YES! I love watching people discover Devin and I loved this reaction! This performance is most recommended because it displays everything that makes him stand out. His guitar work, his vocal ability (all self-taught, by the way) and his crazy sense of humor. One of my favorite bits is when he talks up his "epic guitar solo" and then changes two chords 😂 Some good follow-ups to this video are "Deadhead" live at Royal Albert Hall, "Grace" from the Retinal Circus, and the official video for "Stormbending." For a younger, slightly angrier Devin, check out "Love?" by his old band Strapping Young Lad. All of them are truly jaw-dropping. Okay, that's all I got. Have an amazing weekend!

it's about accepting one's mortality and coming to terms with the fact that the world isn't always fair. It speaks to the idea that when life throws us curveballs we must find hope and strength within ourselves to persevere. The song encourages listeners to stay connected with their faith in God, even when life hasn't gone as planned. It speaks to the idea of unity in times of distress, that even in times of darkness, our connection to each other can be a saving grace.

We ALL react the same way but let me tell you something. It is an absolute joy and never diminishes watching someone else enjoy this video. If 10000 people react to this video I would still love everyone. Everybody understands. The women love him, and the men want to be him. Listen to "Awake" with him and Anneke von Giesbergen. Have you heard, "Take Hold of the Flame" by Queensrÿche? "That's what she said" to the Big joke? I laughed so hard. You became my best friend. You're adorable. Hugs, Don. "I don't do any research, I want to be surprised." ..and surprised you shall be !!! Devin is a creative genius... or two.... maybe three, all rolled into one funny/serious/sarcastic/playful guy. And he's a husband and a dad and just a regular guy from one of those foggy PNW/Canadian townes. Many, many Devin songs have a one-word title. And he often will sing about that word. ... if you paint a picture of that word, you may approach a Devin Townsend song. I hope you do try "Deadhead" at Royal Albert (live), and his Quarantine-musical called "Why" (the song long predates the trials and tribs of 2020, et al). They've already been suggested, and I second that nomination, wholeheartedly. And I also hope you try "Grace" ( E1Gwtep2oXw ) from his Retinal Circus tour. (Complete with the Most Lovely Anneke vonGiersbergen, the First Woman of Metal) And just when you think you can't take any more, PLEASE listen to this little love-letter from Devin to the world: "Ih-Ah" ( cN6fHdPvEu0 ) - just as Devin gave it to all of us, take it as a gift from me and pass it on to those who you love. It sounds like puppy love, grown up. Hard to imagine it comes from the same guy, but there it is. .. and Anneke sings in it again.... no one has ever sung into a deep plate reverb s beautifully, ever.

Devin may be a bit too much for you at this point in your musical journey Debbie. His background is deathcore. His first band was Strapping Young Lad some years ago, and that stuff was HEAVY. He has the moniker "Hevy Devy" and he is a powerhouse talent. Lotta of his music is so varied in metal genre adn his is a nut too lol! A true entertainer and really controls crowd so well in concert. The "mad scientist' of metal. He is known for "walls of sound" and GREAT vocals both clean and thrash. If you go down his rabbit hole, you will be blown away. Next to Epica, he is my favorite performer in metal.

You in trouble girl...! ;) Where to start? Personally, go for the live stuff to get the different varieties - Plovdiv, Ziltoid at Royal Albert Hall, Retinal Circus. Then perhaps try some album stuff - Transcendence, Addicted, Empath. Don't bother trying to fix an order of play... there is no real order to follow, in some songs he changes genres multiple times. It's an interesting journey to take for sure..!
