This video is a fantastic example why I love this band. It is an amazing it exists and that we decades later are watching it, and a testament to why this band was the best rock n roll psychedelic blues band of the era. Yes, they had changes, personal difficulties and a relatively short history, but this song shows the very high levels they could reach, and shows how they had a harder edge than the Dead ( of course, another great band!). Other bands of the were light weight compared to this. I have listened to this kind of music for over forty years ( I saw this band at the Filmore West in 1969 as a young guy) and I still think that the two guitars are simply unbeatable-- Cippolina and Duncan were a duo that have never been topped and they were THE core of this band, Thanks for whoever downloaded this.

I don't even think the word "better" applies between great music or musicians so this is just words reaching for what they can't express, but... to my ears the combination of the 2 playing off each other was more than the sum of each added together

Quicksilver seem to have been the most tragic, star-crossed band of the era. Chet (= Dino) was supposed to be the original frontman but got busted (weed) one day after the band was formed and had to spend two years in jail, only rejoining when he got out. To make things worse he had a heart/vascular birth defect that dogged his entire career and eventually claimed him, in 94. John had a lung/liver condition for his entire life, but smoking caused it to get even worse and left us way back in '89. Nicky Hopkins had Crohn's Disease, and it got so bad that he stopped touring way back in 71, featuring only as a studio contributor after the "Quicksilver" album. He also was taken from us in '94. Gary was one of the few core members without serious health problems yet he only made it to age 73 (he passed a few days ago which is the reason why Im here). The tragedy of it all is that Quicksilver were really the ones who CREATED the electric blues-based psychedelic sound that people associate with San Francisco in the sixties, yet most people today dont even recall their names. Airplane, the Dead, Joe & the Fish and Big Brother took all the glory. But when Quicksilver were in a groove . . . . DAMN! It gives me chills even discussing it!
