It was not done on purpose. I being a doctor went into anaphylactic shock. And was in ICU one week. There are risks with even simple medicines. And no one will know you are allergic to so and so medicine. Allergy can be from simple rash to sudden death. The doctor or nurse has done nothing purposely to harm the patient, this can happen in any part of the world by any doctor or nurse. For that you need not curse the country. This is anaphylactic reaction. It is unpredictable. It can happen to any medicine. But what we need to know, 1. Is that whether dynapar was indicated here? 2. And whether it was given intravenous or intramuscular. Intravascular is not given usually bcos there's chance of anaphylaxis. 3. Another thing to check is qualifications of doctor and nurse. Now a days lots of unqualified people handle modern medicine without any knowledge. Bcos no one will prescribe dynapar for cold and cough or even for a fever. This is an important issue to be investigated.

Not qualified to treat respiratory/ENT problem. But even so, even MBBS interns know Dynapar is IM n only for severe pain. (EDIT) To all who are saying 1. DICLO can be given IV, everyone knows practically speaking, IM is the preferred n safe method. I have never given it IV in my 15years of MBBS+PG+practice. I have never seen any doctor or nurses across 5 hospitals in three different states that I have worked at give it IV. Hence spoke from practical experience. And everyone knows any drug in IV form is inherently riskier. 2. Regarding treating cough n cold by anyone. Sure. Cetrizine/sinarest + antibiotic +/_ cough syrup. That toh even pharmacy wala deta hai in my state. That is not called treating. That is called copy paste. No offence.

Dynapar AQ can be given IM or IV as it is an aqueous solution. It has been in the market for many years now. Also, an MBBS is qualified to do primary management of a cough n cold. Doctor here. Many factors collided to lead to this unfortunate incident. There was no indication to give something like Diclofenac injection. She didn't even have fever. A simple tablet for cold would have sufficed. There is a strong chance that it was done to inflate her bill. That being said, this type of reaction to Diclofenac is very rare. And if she had taken any Diclofenac containing medication at any time in her life, she would have a reaction. The nurse was not diligent enough to spot signs of allergy as she was giving the injection and she ignored patient concerns. If the hospital could not provide solid evidence that timely life saving treatment was given including any relevant paper work, then it is a clear cut negligence issue.

Hello, a mbbs doctor here. Inj. Dynapar is diclofenac which is given for pain relief. It is given by intramuscular route but after dilution it can also be given via iv route but it should be infused within 1hour. In common practice, one gets to see dynapar being given to many patients iv as well after diluting it with 10ml sterile water and infused within a minute. Mostly nothing happens to patients, but it can cause tachycardia and heart attack. What his sister had was anaphylactic reaction to the drug, a patient can have anaphylactic reaction to any drug but having such a severe anaphylactic reaction to diclofenac is very uncommon. what needs to be checked is that did the nurse by mistake give some other medicine or if she forgot to dilute dynapar in the 10ml sterile water.

Anaphylaxis can occur in any person with any medicine or food. People react differently to drugs and food. The name of the culprit drug or food is not written on the patients forehead. The doctor purposely did not push the patient in that situation. People often visit doctors without checking their qualifications. Often the patient or their relatives force a doctor for injection (injection shopping) without knowing the hazards assoc with it. Patients do not understand that oral route is the safest. Anaphylaxis can occur dramatically and unintentionally for which the doctor is not to be blamed. There can be a biologic and genetic variability predisposing a person to such a reaction. The doctor tries to save the patient but he should not be blamed for any adverse outcome to patients life, as the reaction occurs and comes suddenly like a bolt from the blue. It can occur in anybody. Better to listen to both sides of the story. Nowhere test dose is given for common drugs like diclofenac (dynapar). Doctors have to deal with this unavoidable risk of administering injections for which test dose is never recommended or taught.Doctor's profession is quite risky and they are easy targets for blame. The doctor also should be competent enough to handle such a situation, esp using most imp life saving drug Adrenaline in Anaphylaxis. I think, doctors will be safe if prior consent is taken for adverse effects of injections. Sympathies with the patients family.

Sounds like anaphylaxis due to diclofenac injection (basically the most severe form of an allergic reaction you can see). Legally, anaphylaxis would fall into the therapeutic misadventure category rather than medical negligence (unless other pieces of negligence are also in play). Despite what people are saying about test doses, they often fail at ruling in or ruling out allergies at the bedside. Anaphylaxis is unpredictable and rarely can occur spontaneously even without an obvious triggering allergen. Regarding the endotracheal tube (if it was indeed placed), it was probably removed shortly after death was declared. It isn't that shocking a detail. General practitioners are often not trained enough to deal with such emergencies. Medications like avil, hydrocort aren't going to save you in such severe cases. This is not urticaria. There is a very narrow window to stabilize the patient and unless you've been trained properly, the outcomes will not be good.

This is what happens when 90 marks get the medical seat. Those low marks doctors who got the seat based of reservations are now treating the patient and consequences? Here's the video! Most of doctors don't take the vials seriously. My uncle lost his some part of flesh due to wrong injection, that affected part became black and eventually ended up in ICU.

Why attack only SCs ??? It could also be High caste Hindu who would've got a seat through Management quota. There are many colleges giving seat without entrance for 20-30 lakhs. There are many upper caste Hindus too who have committed medical negligence. If you want to truly stand for justice look at the whole picture.

Im an MD /DM Cardiology. Anaphylaxis is rare and often dramatic What you are looking at problems at multiple levels 1. NSAIDS being given with no indication 2. Poor nursing awareness to anaphylaxis 3. Poor management for anaphylaxis. Intubating the patient on spot could have truly saved her along with proper CPR / steroids and epinephrine Thus MOCK CPR codes are super essential among all medical staff While it can be difficult to do test dose for all medications we need to doggie or what exactly was injected

This is truly shocking. No one has the right to play with another person's life. Our constitution clearly states that no doctor should be harassed or assaulted, but what happens when lives are handled carelessly like this? There should be a proper system in place to address these kinds of situations. If someone can’t provide the right treatment, they shouldn’t be experimenting with a patient’s life. Unfortunately, today, many large hospitals seem more focused on maximizing bills than truly caring for patients. The judiciary is the only place to turn for true justice; blind trust in the system, including the police, isn’t always enough. Stand firm and fight until justice is served. strength to the family. Thanks quint for bringing up such stories.

This will mislead anyone not having medical knowledge, life threatening anaphylaxis is very severe and rare complication of till then unknown allergy which obviously nobody would know until it happens, very unfortunate but there is literally very little chance anything a medical centre without an intensive unit can do. The doctor followed the right protocoll after the allergic reaction, also diclofenac is never the first choice but can be given for fever, not only pain. The nurse is ignorant of not recognising an allergy to medication, she should have immediately alerted the doctor instead of administrating it further.

Looks like that it was an anaphylaxis . This is an extreme emergency condition. Even if this happened to her , it was the duty of the doctor to immediately give drugs to counteracting the action of dynapar. I say this not only as a doctor but also as a human being. And frankly speaking I dont know why dynapar was given to her in cough and cold. Ofcourse anaphylaxis can happen to anyone, but all doctor are usually trained to give counter protocol for the same. And if it is proved that doctor has given counter protocol, then I don't think doctor is at a fault here. However if he failed to do so , then this guy must be behind bars. This is a common problem with small private hospitals. Staff is hired under low salary . I will ask the family members to check the qualifications of the doctors. Are they even MBBS doctors?? I know one hospital where an ayurvedic pharmacist is working as a RMO , a post for MBBS doctors, unless specified otherwise but only for doctors not pharmacists.
