Gau Raksha Law, The Real Picture: Targeting Minorities & Failing The Cow | The Quint

In 2016, soon after Haryana Government passed its Cow Protection Law, The Quint visited Mewat in Haryana and found that the law had simply given the 'Gau Rakshak' a free pass to be more violent and target more innocent people and it had also failed to stop cow smuggling.
In 2021, The Quint went back to Mewat to find out whether cows are really being protected under the law? Are there enough Gaushalas to shelter and feed cows?
What we found that not only the government has failed to stop cow smuggling and slaughter but also that the law has become a machinery used by the police and by 'Gau Rakshaks' to harass innocent people, in particular Muslims.

I am sorry, but this is the worst form of journalism - propaganda. Let me explain how 1. The presenter says this law targets muslim but presents no data. Obviously in the whole of India, there will be abuses of any law. We see abuses of the women protection law or environment law or reservation bill. What matters is if the majority of such incidents are fake or not. This can only be answered by data - not you or me or any muslim/hindu 2. Collects subjective information from individuals. SP says cattle smuggling gone down, another man says it increased, but Quint highlights that it increased. Meaning - they are highlighting that which suits their agenda. People like you should ask for data before agreeing with such type of journalism 😕

The main problem cow is facing in india is that people see it as their mother,cow is not your mother and the milk it produces is for its own calf and not for you,india is one of the largest consumer of milk and milk products and is also the largest exporter of beef,is it a coincidence? No. Cows are artificially impregnated,growth hormones with cadmium presence are injected and it’s reproductive health is not taken care of in a commercial dairy farm,it is constantly exploited for milk for about 6 years until it’s endocrine and neural system is damaged and it ultimately stops producing milk and then ends up in the plate of some western guy,and if a male calf is born it’s right away killed for procuring leather,and if female is born it’s taken away from its mother right away and fed artificial food by tubes extending up to its throat So if you really care about go mata then stop drinking milk and using milk products

As per studies, Hindu's in ancient times did consume meat, only later vegetarianism spread among a few groups of Hindu's. Even today a huge number of Hindus eat meat. Don't put the blame on another community. Us humans are classified as omnivorous but everyone should have the right to choose what they eat and their decisions should be respected. People nowadays do certain diets as fashion and anyone who doesn't follow it are labelled as murderers,inhumane etc. Also, look at the condition of those cows in gau shala and then go look into the farms that breed cattle for qurbani. Even if the cows are protected and live a longer life, their life is full of suffering from hunger and diseases and lack of proper care. On the contrary, the animals to be sacrificed live a much happier life. And they are slaughtered in the most painless form. Because cow is considered sacred/holy in Hinduism. Cow is associated with Shri Krishna. So it's their duty to protect cows. It's just like how a muslim won't eat pork, because eating pork is considered a sin in islam. These religious customs weren't made by me or you. They just exist right from the inception of our religions. I personally don't have an issue with others consuming cow meat, because everyone has the right to eat what they want. But this issue is complicated as either way it's going to hurt someone's religious sentiments. So, it's going to stay like this with no solution.
