Farmers in villages in desert of Katch now earning tons by horticulture with water of Narmada coming from 800+ km far, my village in Dhorela-Dhandhuka where land is dried and only 1 small harvest were taken by farmers, now farmers in my village take 3 harvest in year due to water of Narmada coming from 400+ km far. It’s what you get when we have strong leadership, Modi personally forced construction to high speed for the damn as well all canals network.

Nothing is worthy when it comes to disgrace and hardship of my country people. As a citizen of the country, we can't let anyone face the consequences for benefiting the other, harming the ecology, endangering the wildlife, land mass and the lively river. I think we should have thought another alternative beyond sitting and hanging to the issue for 56 years, creating politics over the lives of people and a river. #CommonMan.

This dissapointed me this was not expected from The quint at least you could have researched facks by seeing award winning documentaries like drowned out and many other others and could have shown ground reality that the benefits of this dam was overestimated 20 times and the cons were underestimated 4 times you could have shown the quality of construction and how many times it costed the estimated cost you could have shown what the displaced people were promised and what the got in the end but you didn't...........

Development is for people who are better off, not for the people living in the villages. What is expected of people losing their livelihood and source of income and food is to do peaceful bhuk hartals, when the government bulldozers run over their houses. The government is not for them, neither is development for them. They should die peacefully starving so that some media can come and take pictures while people sitting in their AC living rooms fill bad but enjoy their electricity while corrupt beaurocrats pocket their compensation.

vaanan navin haaha still comment not deleted lol. U have to think from different perspective to understand the comment Which obviously u have not done..... Industries are backbone of 21st century. countries which had hard time realising this facts are the ones lagging behind nowadays. India is one among them. India has long focussed only on farming and have paid no attention to industrialization .we see industries something as a evil and we pay the price for it in terms of jobs , infrastructure.there is nothing bad in supporting farming but it has its own limitations in 21st century... 50 years back u could grow crops and sell the products in different country. Now with use of technology even arid countries can produce crops and grains in enough quantities e.g Israel, middle east countries e.t.c It's not question of modi or Congress.. whoever is in power should and must promote industries. already we r lagging behind in industrialization if we don't support them now then we r doomed.

India ka pehle se trend hai, idea revolutionary rehta, implementation mein hagg dete. Trailers are well made, films are shit. Demonetization, SSD etc. sab yahi hai. SSD thoda moral dilemma jaisa hai kyuke its like that philosophical problem ke would you save your mother from dying or 10 people who you do not know, kabhi kabhi emotions aur logic ka tussle hota hai which tells us how imperfect the seemingly perfect humans are. Tum ye problem court of law mein run karoge toh 10 lives will seem outweighing the 1 life, but subjectively and emotionally which Medha Patkar is thinking like is also not wrong in her thought. I would like to sit out of the jury, ye itna difficult problem hai bc.

Kya hazaro lakho logo k punarwas ka kam ground pr pura hua ya sirf kagjo pr ya wha b nhi? Kya historical, cultural, ecological, archaeological Drishti se mahatwapoorn sthano k sambandh me kuchh socha gya? The answer to the question- is the dam worthful or not, lies in the anwer to these questions.

It was just NOT WORTH IT!!!! And they (the current authoritative modi-gov, see we have to use Modi-gov and not BJP gov, why so?) are after implimenting 3 such "Giant" dam projects now. The Ken-Betwa got the green signal to kick-off. Even though villagers are protesting. Who is there to listen? Is this really the "Acche Din"?? Is what the common men are asking in the villages.
