Here's some related Journey to the West lore for those who interested. Long before Sun Wukong and his master Xuanzang set foot to the Blackwind mountain, there are three beasts that obtained magic and turned themselves humanoid, they formed a brotherhood and called themselves master of the Blackwind mountain. The trio include: •Lingxuzi (a white wolf) •Baiyi Xiushi - White robe noble/scholar (a white snake) •Heifeng - Black wind (a black bear) They lived in peace with the monks of Blackwind moutain until Xuanzang came and stayed one night at the Blackwind monastery. The head monk got greedy for Xuanzang's magical robe so he burned the place down trying to kill Xuanzang but it backfired (no pun intended), and killed everyone else. Heifeng came to see what was up, saw Xuanzang unconscious in the ruin with a glowing magical robe so he stole it. Sun Wukong confronted him, wacked Lingxuzi and Baiyi Xiushi's head in the process. Guayin showed up, told Heifeng to return the robe, realized he stole it because he's a big fan of Buddhism and hasn't harm anyone, she granted him divinity and be the Guardian of the Blackwind mountain.

@@haisenzhu Let me briefly explain that. The Japanese learned the Chinese characters and used them in their language thousands years ago. However, since 1)the sound is hard to learn from books, and 2)the Chinese dialects that the Japanese learned from are different from modern Mandarin, Japanese usually use a different pronunciation for the exact same Chinese characters. As a Chinese player I noticed most of foreign players they made a mistake from goku( Japanese animation) and Sun Wukong ( version original Chinese), so I want to remind you that black myth Wukong uses the original role setting from Journey to the West ( Chinese novel of myth) as background, the story it’s not completely similar with that version Japanese Goku

@charlespui6630 yes I agree. I was saying the story of goku copied the original story in certain aspects. Like the flying cloud and staff and baseline story( in a small way). But Sun Wukong is the original as far as I know with a much better mythology and spiritual lesson.

Perhaps it was lost in translation, but you do realize that the foreign players are actually praising Journey to the West and the story of Wukong for being a great inspiration to the stories they love, rather than mistaking those stories for the original?

Wukong, originating from the Chinese novel Journey to the West written during the Ming Dynasty, tells the story of Tang Sanzang's pilgrimage to the Western Heaven to seek Buddhist scriptures during the Tang Dynasty. The inspiration for Black Myth: Wukong comes from this novel. Additionally, the character Wukong in Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball is also based on Journey to the West. The name "Wukong" is a Buddhist monastic name with a rather philosophical meaning: "Wu" signifies comprehension, learning, and understanding, while "Kong" means emptiness or nothingness. I hope that through this game, everyone can gain a deeper understanding of Chinese mythology and culture.

All I can do right now is just watching Brad playing the games that I intrigued to play. But I know if I bought the game, I would play it like 20minutes per week if I had nothing else to do. During the gameplay, you might feel at a loss, unsure of what to do. This is largely due to your unfamiliarity with the background story of "Journey to the West." The game's storyline takes place several years after the end of the famous novel "Journey to the West." Below is an overview of the entire "Journey to the West" story and a summary of the first level's context within "Journey to the West" for your reference: "Journey to the West": The story revolves around the two major religious forces, the Heavenly Court (Taoism) and the Sacred Mountain (Buddhism). The Sacred Mountain wishes to spread its teachings in the Tang Kingdom, so the monk Tang Sanzang, accompanied by three disciples, travels on foot from the Tang Kingdom to the Sacred Mountain to obtain religious scriptures. They encounter various enemies along the way. Sun Wukong is the eldest disciple of the monk Tang Sanzang. He was once a demon with formidable martial power, but was later subdued by the Sacred Mountain. Prequel to the first level: The monks arrive at Black Wind Mountain. There is a temple on Black Wind Mountain. The temple's elder, the Golden Pool Holy Monk, covets Tang Sanzang's treasures and conspires with the Black Bear Monster to seize them. In the end, Sun Wukong burns down the temple and subdues the Black Bear Monster.
