Buddy... what a fantastic video! I think your new video equipment really sets a new high bar for anyone doing the same. When you zoomed in on the broken connection I felt like a tiny flea looking right in on the break....with 20/20 vision. As usual, your vocal explanations are excellent. Thank you for painstakingly taking the time to do this. You're definitely appreciated by your following.

Many thanks for these videos. I passed my Ham certificate in 1983 and passed etc. But about 10 years ago I gave up the Hobby. But recently got back into the Hobby. This week I purchased a Yaesu FT101B from Ebay. Started work on it with 100w tx on 40metres with other band giving 50Watts etc. Doest Tx on 160m but not sure if it should. Now in process of replacing the front panel as cannot read written numbers etc. So it's really helpful watching videos of yours. Cheers from George (Michael G1BKI) in the UK. Ps mainly run QRP from modern cheapo. SDR rubbish radios. Pension money doesn't go far.

Oh Great Tron God, Thank you for this. Sincerely though, thanks much for the help and instruction. I'm in the process of putting together a repair bench. The last time I worked on radios was in the 1980's. Add to that, my first ham radio was an FT 101B. I currently have a different one thanks to E-Bay, which naturally does NOT work as advertised. I decided it was time to dust off the old brain housing group, and build a work bench. (Still chiselling some of that dust... ) You're an inspiration with much knowledge that you share. Serious kudos, and much thanks.

I kinda got the same problem with my Yaesu 991A tears up the TV, even knocks it completely off the air when I transmit on 2 meters mostly. My radio station is in the living room and just underneath our 55 inch big screen. It seems to mostly happen when it's wet outside and my antenna has been rained on. So I ordered some RF ferrite beads to go on the input cable to the TV. I'm hoping this will fix the RF problems I'm encountering. Maybe you should put some RF ferrite beads on your computer cables to keep out the RF. Cheers from eastern TN

Great suggestion. With all the wires coming off the PC they act like antennas. Thank for the comment.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I loved the video but my FT101EE will stay sitting on the shelf because I just don't have the equipment it takes to align it. But I'll never get rid of it because it takes me back to 1979 and I love looking at it. I also have the SP-101PB, FV-101B and the FL-2100B that goes with the FT101EE. The reason it is sitting is the last time I keyed it up the radio the finals wouldn't turn off. I checked the finals on a tube tester and one of tubes was bad, so I replaced both of them never keyed it up again.
@TheRadioShop
@TheRadioShop Жыл бұрын
Question, Why would it need alignment? I mean if it was working since you had it and was ok then an alignment is most likely not needed. They are fun rigs even to look at.
@CajonLiving
@CajonLiving Жыл бұрын
@@TheRadioShop I was thinking more along the lines of the tubes need neutralizing since I changed them and the alignment due to its age. Then I'm not sure what really happed to the tube to make it fail. I really need to find a shop to go through the FT101EE and the FV-101B. I think it was two years ago I looked into sending it out, but when I contacted the repair shop, they told me they were not taking any more radio in at that time.

Hi, I have an FT101e that requires alignment but I notice the main scale is off, I presume I would start by setting the main scale exactly on frequency before adjusting the tuning cores ?

I have a 101zd thats a little deaf. Do you think that an alignment will help or is it an rx amp that's ithe issue?
@TheRadioShop
@TheRadioShop Жыл бұрын
Has the rig always been deaf? Or did it slowly start fading out. If the latter then something has gone bad. Could even be a dirty contact.
