Road to success in HoI4 follows the PTRS/PTRD production philosophy - PTRS was better rifle, PTRD was "we need it yesterday" rifle. First one was precise, magazine loaded, semiauto, had comfortable stock. Second one was cheap and did the job. They were both accepted basically on the same day and put into production wherever possible, they filled the same niche and used the same round. But cheap one was possible to produce on worse equipment and in higher quantity. So one's job was to saturate the troops with AT rifle, the other was meant to give them better rifle over time. I guess you can use Sten/Grease Gun and Thompson for same comparison. Basically you produce same equipment for two purposes, one to fill the base and one to upgrade. In HoI4 it is the most important in mods that tend to jack up resource prices on each new equipment upgrade.

should have gone for france first. you can easily lure the AI into germany, then keep encircling them and retreating until you can simply waltz through marginot. no paratroopers needed. Then if you want, you can keep world tension at 0% by liberating all of frances colonies and only annex france main land. (except malaya, which you annex for the rubber etc.) Afterwards you can still do anschluss and czech. No Vichy, no free france in WW2.
