Tbh, if the devs used the no mana mod as a basis then tweaked the numbers to balance it, it would be pretty good. However, the biggest problem here is that if everything is tied to ONE currency, it's going to slow down extremely the player. Until his economy can support it.

Alex, try playing Heroes of Might and Magic, everyone loves it, it's a map painter (sort of), there are very few if any ppl like you playing it, you are charmingly incompetent and it should be good fun watching you learning it. I know longer series no longer do very well (or maybe never did) but maybe do 2 20 or 30 min vids in a row? Anyway I wish you luck, cheers!

My 2 biggest issues with Imperator: 1. The mana system, i dont need to explain, just get rid of it. 2. Defensive Leagues, in theory these are basically coalitions in EU4, however there are 2 MAJOR differences that means that the DLs are somehow wose than the coalitions. Difference 1. They are against every person who tries to attack any member of the League instead of the coalitions being targeted against whichever poor sod decided to eat somebody and 2. There is absolutely no catalyst to their formation so most nations end up in a League before the end of the first month. In my experience they are also very biased against the player, within a year every nation that borders you will be a member of a league, whereas nations nowhere near you probably wont be. This can be fixed in two ways 1. Get rid of them, EU4s system was that good anyway or 2. Tie the formation to AE like in EU4.

except while in EUIV the mana system worked to create a balance between tech, ideas, conquest, and developing provinces as it is really only used in those 4 categories, Imperator Rome pretty much uses mana to do everything instantaneously except building units and moving units.
