$6.5K - $2K rent - $400 utilities (assuming not included in rent) - $500 gas -$ 900 food - $550 school - $400 cell phone/cable/internet /streaming services - $ 300 misc (entertainment, eating out) - $800 to savings, $650 tithe and he is right on target if he just stops listening to Dave and gets a brain of his own he can probably easily afford a 30 year mortgage, then just do what you can to pay a little extra and call it good.

The obvious answer is no, but it's easier said than done. Once you get in the rhythm of chasing your dreams, it's hard to stop. Sometimes, I work too much because I worry that I won't have enough to provide for my family. But remember, if you don't spend time with them, there will be no family to take care of. Balance can be hard (if not impossible) to reach, but make sure to set boundaries and schedule some quality time with family.

this is such an oversimplification. you don't just automatically double your clients b/c you hired someone. there's going to be a ramp up time. and what if there aren't any more clients to be had in the area? This is the answer. When Dave advised people to get a 15 year loan that was in the early 90’s when a house cost what a Mcchicken does today. This is the issue I have with Dave and his rigid hard and fast one size fits all financial advice. Every client is different and therefore what may work for one client might be a disaster to the next. Of course it’s difficult to market that as a book deal to sell to your cult of devout followers so instead he sticks to his dated advice that keeps people houseless and poor

I have a stay at home wife, three kids, a dog and a cat. We currently live in a travel trailer and live off of about 2000 dollars a month for all bills, and expenses. The rest of our income is being put toward a house that I’m building myself on my off hours. There is no reason why you can’t cut that 6k a month salary and live off less. People simply not willing to sacrifice the nicer things in life.

Man these guys never listen and over simplify. Just because the guy hires someone doesn't mean he instantly has 40% more windows to wash and that is the assumption they were making. Yes he could handle more if he hires but he is gonna go for a period of time where his net income goes down until he builds it up. I've followed Dave's plan but I just don't understand his numbers these days. It's expensive to live these days, we pay at least 10% tithe and there's not a lot leftover at the end of the month!

I don't always agree with Dave, but he clearly meant 100k gross income. For Dave to say, "you make $75k a year" would be inaccurate. In general we don't refer to our take home pay as what we make per year, so Dave adjusted it to gross salary, in his head, quickly. So yeah, Dave can do math in his head...

Never? Even if you can afford it? Always pay a ton more in interest no matter what? At today's interest rates you will pay $100k more in interest cost for a 30 year vs a 15 year mortgage on a $200k loan. If you can afford to get a 15 year mortgage it's a no brainer, yes of course do it. If you can't afford it, consider the 30 year, or a 20 year. Never simply choose the 30 year just because the payment is lower.
