Tua is very extraordinary. When he doesn't finish the fight in the first round and amazing 1st round finisher with one of the best KO'S in the 1st round in the heavyweight category. He has fought only in the heavyweight division. He is very short for a heavyweight boxer & only 5ft 10 inches tall and reach 69 & 1/2 inches. Taller boxers with height of 6ft 3inches & 6ft 6inches plus, a few who had talent kept him at bay like Lennox and couldn't win with a KO. Tua's fights went into championship rounds. He was sure that he would not win a fight with the judges scorecards where he would be outscored by points. His simple strategy was to KO his opponents and win the fight and not disturb the staticians with a scoring system. Tua has shown the gladiator spirit in the heavyweight arena and even though maybe behind the fight on points, he finished the fight with a KO or TKO and never troubled the judges. He finished fights like this one and people were awestruck. Even in this fight he was behind on points. When you look at the finishing post he won fights on his merit and talent. He knows how to finish a fight very clear-cut.

I train at David Tua's Gym down in New Zealand and talked to him about Lou Duva. Apparently Duva was more of a promoter than trainer. He said George Benton taught him and trained him much more than Duva ever did. But I agree with you, when he was with Duva he was a better fighter.
