Fall of Vijayanagara Empire was the official Fall of Bharata... Muslim invasion converted from Bharata into Hindustan, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja Converted from Hindustan to Hindavi Svarajya British Converted From Hindavi Svarajya into British India by ENGLIGH education act 1835.... It is British India... Not even true Full India... size of Bharata was reduced from Gandhara to Viajyanagara Empire(Last Proper Bharata)...

I don't think south kings used word Bharat, it was mostly used in North region. Also India was divided back then into kingdoms. There was no one united Bharat back then.

Marathas were all the marathi speaking people and who joined the Swaraj ideology. Every person of cast/creed/tribe/family clan had fought for swaraj from Chatrapati Shivaji maharaj to the battle of panipat. they were all maratha. Even invaders used to call all marathi people maratha. Sad today it is only limited to a caste based name.

Shahuji I Bhonsle (Marathi: शाहुजी १/शहाजी तंजावरचे)(b. 1672) also called Shahji of the Bhonsle dynasty was the second Maratha ruler of Thanjavur. He was the eldest son of Ekoji I, who was a half brother of Shivaji, the first Maratha ruler of Thanjavur. He reigned from 1684 to 1712. The origins of the Bhonsles in unclear. According to Jadunath Sarkar and other scholars, Bhonsles were predominantly Deccani tiller-plainsmen from the Shudra caste; they were part of the Marathas/Kunbis, an amorphous class-group. Scholars have however disagreed about the agricultural status of Bhosles.

The concept of Maharashtra as we know it today did NOT exist then. Hindus and Muslims were only loyal to their own king or Sultan ONLY. INDIA DID nOT exist as it does today. Muslims were loyal to Hindu Maharajas in their kingdoms and Hindus were loyal subjects of their Sultans in their kingdoms. So back then, INDIANS were not as we imagine them to be. (That is why Hindu kings and Maharaja's did not rally to assist the Mharattas in their war against Ahmed Shah Abdali in the Panipat war Because the Maharajas were not fighting for India. They were fighting for a Maratha identity and not Bengali, or Rajput or Telugu or Gujarati and vice versa. Only from 1857 and the 1900's the ideas of democracy started to unite us as INDIANS. Do not impose today's realities on the past history and divide our country. It will destroy our identity as Indians. Let's celebrate INDIA as it remains with us. Let us unite and get our Kashmir back and stop demonizing Christians and Muslims who are born citizens in India. Jai Bharat. Jai Hind. Mira Bharat Mahal.

Please check recording of great author and speaker Late Ninad Bedekar.
