Firstly, Ricky Ponting wasn't REMOVED by Mumbai Indians from captaincy. Ricky himself went upto the management and VOLUNTEERED to step down & drop himself from the playing XI. Much like Gambhir did in 2018 for DD when Iyer was appointed the captain later. Secondly, MI didn't "LET HARDIK GO" in 2022 mega auctions. It was Hardik who HIMSELF WANTED to leave when he got the offer from GT where he would be the captain and all. So cut down the crap of "Hardik feeling bad" because he was more than happy. If one watches football, he/she can understand it better by relating it to the Neymar to PSG transfer. Thirdly, while you can still somewhat question Rohit's performance as a batter over the last 4 years, stop the bullshit of him not being upto the mark as a captain. It was MI's stupid 2022 auction when they splurged 15.25 Cr on Ishan Kishan only to end with mediocre domestic bowlers. Not to mention the 8 crores wasted on Jofra Archer when he wasn't even gonna be available for the whole 2022. The season right after, Bumrah, Jhye and Jofra after 3-4 matches weren't available and with arguably the worst bowling attack in the tournament, Rohit led the team to a 3rd place finish. 2021, MI were just one place short of the playoff spot as they finished 5th, 2020 they were the winners. So there's no way you can call out Rohit as a captain even one bit. You want to create the narrative and gain sympathy for HARDIK....that's perfectly alright! BUT don't call out the public saying that they create narratives and misunderstand Hardik, because the public is well aware of the facts unlike you who is either unaware or just manipulates them.

I guess Robin missed the 4th perception, that of the fans. Fans don't always rate players on statistics alone, they also value the impact of the player. Impact on team, outcomes, game in general, fans' emotions, etc. Some players, even with average performance win hearts of millions. Whereas, someone with exceptional talent may still stuggle to connect with fans. Unfortunately, even MI didn't take this into consideration. Yes, MI fans are upset because their beloved captain was sacked (Yes, he was sacked), but most are mature enough to understand that change is inevitable. Unfortunately, there are some other issues which have irked the fans. 1. The way this transition happened, it was reminiscent of corporate takeover and not a respectful passing of the baton. 2. They didn't consider the existing loyal MI players for captaincy and chose to go with someone who was not a part of the team anymore. I say loyal because someone like Bumrah, who is injury prone too, will break all records if he ever enters the auctions. But he has stayed with MI and fans would've liked that loyalty to be rewarded. 3. Of all the players outside, MI opted for Hardik. Now, why does that bother MI fans? Well, Hardik is a fantastic player and in the Indian jersey, he is loved by most. But many MI fans were disappointed with his sly digs at MI in recent times and hence, they were shocked to see him back in the team, let alone become the captain. Besides the above, many fans are still not convinced about the decision itself. Nevertheless, the mocking and trolling is just not fair and must stop. While fans have a right to their opinion, uncivilized behaviour is just not acceptable. Guess this is not the end though. Let's just wait for the next Mega auction, there might bigger surprises in store for us.

You are choosing to play in front of an audience, no one is forcing you to do so. One can certainly imagine how it might feel when the world is against you and criticising you, but it is you who is chose to be in front of a camera and be judged. No one is asking you to respond or prove the world wrong, but you do need to acknowledge what's going around. Very eloquent commentary from Robin. Interesting to listen. But I have several observations. 1. Mumbai Indians team management - It was a blunder to still have Rohit in the team but not have him as the captain. Can you imagine Steven Gerrard being at Liverpool and someone else wearing the arm band? Doesn't make sense. 2. To the manjrekers and the uthappas who are asking the fans to behave and be sensible, always remember fans are the guardians of the game, they are the real boss. They travel to the game, spend the money and cheer for their team not because they are sensible but because they are passionate. Don't ask them to drop their passion, they are entitled to have their opinion, their favorites, their cheers and their boos because they are the ones paying the player their fees, not the owners. The sport is nothing without the fans and their raw passion. Following things: 1) Rohit was made captain midway. MI backed it in 2013. Reason: Lot's of losses. Has it not happened in any other franchise ? It has and it is CSK. Jadeja lost and MSD became the captain midway. His comment: We want Jaddu more as a player than as a captain. That showed the backing and no fan criticized them as everyone knew it. 4) On the corporate people comment: you need to be more responsible. You guys are getting paid just because of the criticism indirectly. (The amount of people watching makes the game more money minters which eventually leads to criticism). 5) MI didn't give captaincy to Bumrah or SKY but to Hardik who told they got best players and had the best players. Recognizing and grooming them to play till international level is what IPL is for. It will be Hardik's MI in 2025. Who had to do it.?? there is another franchise CSK where last year they tried Jaddu and in the middle of the season they gave it back to MSD. and in this year he "MSD" gave the captaincy to Ruturaj.. they also have a huge fan base.. they ddnt say anything.. they understood. why.. coz it was not badly put forward by the management.. by the players. by MSD by rutu.. This is what the fans also wanted i feel. they would have accepted pandya as there captain if it was given to him. rather than asking and snatching it from rohit. personally am a KKR fan die hard from the begining. I'm sorry but I don't agree with Robin Uthappa Sir. He asked is there anything wrong in Hardik Pandya wanting to come back as a captain because he had a two year successful run at GT. Ranveer answered as "No". Surely, it might not be wrong to ask that but as a player he is well aware who is being snatched off that captaincy for him to get it. So, if he really wants to come back as captain he should also be aware of the backlash of the indian audience. Robin Uthappa also pointed out, quite beautifully, about the three perspectives individually. The thing is Hardik is also aware of the other two perspectives. He is not just thinking about himself. Also, Handing captaincy from ricky ponting(last stage of his career) to Rohit is very different from handing captaincy from Rohit(Current INDIAN Captain, 5 time IPL winner) to Hardik. My point is Hardik is right for thinking for himself but he should also be aware and be okay with the people's reaction. You got to take the good with the bad. Agree with uthappa's word .. I think When Rohit Sharma became captain after Ponting, Mumbai Indians (MI) wasn't doing well, and both Ponting and Sachin were retiring. But Rohit led MI to success over the years, so it might have been the wrong process for MI to give the captaincy to Pandya instead of Rohit. The way MI did it didn't sit well with Indian cricket fans. They see Pandya as a villain now because they think he got the captaincy in the Gujarat Titans team and returned to MI for money, even though Rohit was already there. Unlike CSK, where the captaincy transition from Dhoni to Ruturaj was smooth, MI could have handled it better, and now Pandya is facing the backlash for it. Taking away the captaincy and passing it on are different things. MI management might not have understood this difference.

Can’t believe Robin compared the Ponting’s captaincy decision to this decision, Ponting himself stepped down and here you disrespectfully removed your five times champion Captain and the way it was done, it was shameful. He deserved some respect which this ungrateful franchise didn’t give to him. And as far as Hardik is concerned, we all saw that press conference and it’s clear to us what he did to get the captaincy. Fans are the biggest stakeholders, we have the right to show our disappointment.

Arrey Bhai, why not promote someone like Bumrah as captain, or someone who is playing for MI, also the transition could have been smoother... ALSO, the results in first few games are for everyone to see..
