HeartSupport - Music to Improve Your Mindset

Күн бұрын

Therapist analyzes the lyrics to Cemetery Gates to discuss how we often want to pass the cemetery gates to connect with those we have lost and share all of the things we left unsaid with them. The hardest part of grief is often passing the cemetery gates and back into real life. This song can help in that process.

@terry damn man that is rough. I never met the band, but as a 21yo when it happened, I’d never been so upset about a celebrity death. It’s happened a couple of times since when Robin Williams and then Big Vin passed unexpectedly. Dimebag was an incredibly special guy, and I think he touched more people than he ever realised. RIP 🤘🏼

Ok, now you need to listen to the album version so you get the full experience of this song. The intro is so beautiful, people always make the mistake of reacting to the official video and chop off an amazing part of the song. Another Pantera song that would be interesting for you to analyze is Hollow, a really sad song that reflects on the grief of losing someone without them even being actually dead.

What made it even more tragic is that it was done in front his brother, Vinnie, the drummer. Nickelback wrote a song about it called "Side of a Bullet", where they used an unreleased (at the time) solo of Dimebag Darrell in the song. Very cool tribute to DD & Pantera.

I was living in Grove City and was very disappointed that I didn't have a way to get to the show. You can imagine the shock of seeing the next day's Columbus Dispatch. Later, a fundraiser was held down the street for Nathan Bray, which I was able to attend. When I moved to Texas in 2012, I visited Dime's gravesite. It still seems very surreal that I could have been at the club that night. You never hear from any of the traumatized fans who were.

Hell Yeah... (wait.. that might be out of context, lol). But "This Love" would be a homerun for this channel. They have a lot of great songs, but I think that's the one for this audience. "Walk" would be a close runner-up. I know those are their "radio songs" and maybe a bit over-played relative to the rest of their catalogue, but those songs have the right message.

"The guitar is like another voice" is the best way to describe how Dimebag Darrell played guitar. He was the best at what he did! Also, Phil Anselmo's vocals are insane on this entire album. From the aggressive metal vocals, to beautiful cleans, to Rob Halford-style highs. "Cowboys from Hell" is such a landmark album.

As the Soviet Union fell, after generations of rock music being highly oppressed, a massive rock concert was held called the Monsters of Moscow, which Pantera played at (along with AC/DC, Metallica and some others) to a crowd of roughly 1.5 million people. The video footage is absolutely insane, and to see such a massive crowd gathered and celebrating their liberation from the oppressive government they grew up under, through the music they had to listen to in secret. The Soviet Union officially ended in December of '91, but this concert was held in September a few months prior, while the collapse was underway. It's a pretty powerful moment to see, if nothing else but for the historical aspect of it.

My grief moment was when my grandfather passed away. We were getting ready to go to the service and I knew that I couldn’t be strong for my grandmother and so instead of me being embarrassed, obviously wouldn’t have been but depression is a wonder, I didn’t go. My grandfather was the greatest man in my life and I robbed my self the way to properly grieve and show respect for him because my fear of being embarrassed overwhelmed me. I had a difficult time finding the right medication for my bipolar and depression so I quit 4 years ago and I’m better than I was. Not saying I don’t have struggles and episodes regularly because we all do. I’m just demonstrating how I relate to that lyric and btw this song is on my daily playlist

That was me when my dad died. I cried as I told my wife about it when I got off the phone with my mom when she told me about the accident that morning. That was it. I had to be the one to get through everything, the conversations with the funeral home, the preacher, the graveyard...everything down to coordinating the event on the morning of the funeral. I let my brother and my sister and my mom turn into emotional wrecks for those 4 days. My biggest fear is that others (the friends and family at the funeral) thought that I didn't care about his death because of how I had to act.

Rock In Peace my brothers, Dimebag & Big Vin! Pantera is my favorite metal band of all time, wearing a Pantera shirt as I type this lol There is much more to the gunman about just being upset they broke up. He was a Vet with PTSD who also thought that Pantera was stealing his songs, that he wrote them. He was obviously dealing with a lot of mental health issues. The gunman also killed 3 other people that night, one was a security member of the band, and a security guy for the club, and a fan who had ran on stage to try and stop the gunman. He had shot another tech of the band several times and was holding him hostage, when the 1st officer on scene seen him and took one shot to take out the gunman. That officer had a lot of PTSD after that event as well from having to shoot and kill the gunman. I got to meet Pantera a couple of times, the last being on their final tour as Pantera for Reinventing the Steel tour. If I had known in 4 years Dime would no longer be with us, I would have gone to see them as Damageplan. The 1 show they played close to me I had to work so I thought "oh, I'll catch them next time." Sadly there was not a next time. I did get to see Vinnie with Hellyeah, hung out with Dime's long time gf Rita Haney.. but yeah, still hurts me to this day. I have CFH tattooed on my arm with a guitar headstock of one of Dime's signature guitars.e gunman

The person who killed Dime was also Schizophrenic and was discharged from the military because of it, which ironically is how he got the gun he used. My Queen... This song was released in 1990. Allegedly the song is about losing a female lover and contemplating joining her by sue a side or death. Oh also listen to 13 Steps to Nowhere. It will change your life forever but I do not recommend having any caffeine beforehand!

Hi Taylor, such a good reaction, and your research into the meaning was fantastic. Dimebag Darrell is widely considered as one of the best metal guitarists of all time. Jonathan Davis of Korn made a comment that implied Korn was heavily influenced by Dimebag. Sorry for going on and on. I really enjoyed this reaction.
