During the conceptualization of Jinx for the game, they were thinking to give her an X tattoo, as the roman numeral 10, similar to Vi's 6 tattoo, to hint at the fact that they are in some kind of relationship. They eventually discarded the idea, but the X remained part of Jinx's character design. Also, if you look at the clothing in Arcane, you'll see a lot of Vs on Vi and Xs on Jinx

With the Firelight coming outof Powder's mouth I'm very much reminded of Silence of the Lambs, where the killer places a moth inside the female victim's throats. "Hannibal Lecter: The significance of the moth is change. Caterpillar into chrysalis, or pupa, and from thence into beauty." Possibly I'm reading too much into it. From my understanding there is a clear story told in this video: The opening is actually the ending, as a flash-forward. Powder and Ekko watch Vi practise with some kids, then go and do some street crime with the gang from the last drop. Powder messes up being on watch - Milo gets beaten up, and Powder and Vi get pulled over by the Enforcers but presumably let go. Vi tells off Powder in their bunkroom, losing her temper, knocking her over. Then we get the opening - Powder comes into the main taproom, sad and upset, some of the patrons (Imagine Dragons and JID) cheer her up, and Vi comes back and they hug it out. Jinx has a lot of Xs in her design, from her hairclips as Powder to her necklace as Jinx, just as Vi has a lot of V shapes in her clothing. "Enunciate"

Building off of this, didn't see this mentioned in the comments yet (apologies if I overlooked it somewhere!), but I've seen some theories around that Mylo was particularly antagonistic towards Powder in the show because she saw him get beat up here and that hurt his teen boy ego of course

@@krystanr1130 that's an interesting one! I subscribe more to the idea that Mylo was afraid of losing his position as 'the clever one' to Powder, and was constantly trying to undermine her due to his own low self esteem and fear of being abandoned.

About 13:10 When Powder strucks a wall with a Jinx face projected on, I think this symbolize the relation between the two identities in the other direction as well. Powder is desperate, with a hole tearn in her soul after loosing Vi. Needing a big sister, a comfort zone. From that need Jinx was created. Jinx was for Powder a shield, protecting her from the outside world. She indeed was formed a bit by Silco, however wothout that need, that hole, Jinx never would be

Good job noticing the firelight coming out of Powder's mouth, and her changing to Jinx within a few frames. Something I think I discovered: The video seems to be about Powder remembering the past, and imagining the future: I don't think the Jinx we see is the traumatized killer we see in season 1. Here, she mostly looks calm, collected, confident and strong - she's who Powder *wanted* to grow up to be.

Another great reaction! Don't worry about the length, I could have kept listening to you talk about all this for a good while! Your commentary is really engaging so it's worth it! You caught a lot of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it frames and that really adds to the experience to catch them! Arcane does this a lot when it comes to Jinx, and even in some of the opening credits you can catch hidden frames important to the show or episode. I love how you describe the feelings behind the head-punching being more about feeling overwhelmed and wanting things around you to stop. Jinx standing over Powder as a type of protector figure near the end was also something I haven't heard many others talk about. As you (and Vi, as you saw in episode 6) said, she was just doing what she had to to survive. And it's so true. No matter how much she enjoys herself exploding things or shooting people, the Jinx persona helped her to 'toughen up' and be more confident when there was no more big sis to watch out for her. She had to become that for herself, for better or worse.

I don't think it will be detailed or interesting enough for a whole video but the song Our Love that plays when Vi is trying give herself in as a kid which looking back knowing what happens between Vi and Powder/Jinx this track gains new meaning and is almost reflective of them (though admittedly is about romantic love not family love but I still think is reflective of them in some of the lyrics). Being about eternal love that is deep and stays strong even "after all the rain will fall on us too" or "while the world turns around". And with one of the lyrics praying for the their love to always stay pure which of course with Vi and Jinx's relationship has broken it's purity with some very tragic moments. But I think the praying part is very reflective of both of them having this kind of naive idea that after those moments they can go back to this nice pure relationship where neither of them have changed or the relationship has been changed by these actions even though they have become changed people by this and the nature of their relationship will always be different now, that this purity they want to stay there has broken.

The X hints to the end of Her name Jinx, and is represented in her design with the X on her chest, this is also the same with Vi and her V also represented on her outfit. This is also more apparent in Season 2

Regarding the X, it has been observed that Vi and Jinx both have designs that heavily feature a single letter all over their outfits. V for V, X for Jinx. This is a notable break from their in-game designs. As such, the letters strongly take on the meaning of both characters

The X is Jinx's identity the same way the V is Vi's If you notice it, their design has a LOT of Xs and Vs In my head, they invested on this concept because failures are usually associated with X, and V, to hits, victory and being right So that's how Powder perceives themselves: if she needs to become a hero, she needs to be like Vi, cause everything Powder does goes wrong, she jinxes everything Avoiding spoilers, i'm just gonna say that it gets clearer on season 2

The subset of sadness you mentioned in Powders / Jinx sad look toward the end of the video looks like disappointment to me. Not with anyone in particular but with the world as a whole. It has this sad quality but also the expression of not caring / having given up on everyone else. We have a pretty nifty term for it in germany which you might have heard before: "Weltschmerz" which I think is rather fitting here.
