My bad on the editing. I accidentally cut out the ending! I am putting the Paladin Strait with the ending on Patreon for free if you want to see the ending! www.patreon.com/reactiontherapy

This song is the epitome of overcoming struggles for me. So profoundly necessary. It figuratively and Literally resonates through me on so many levels. Very grateful for Tyler and Josh. And thank you for your words, too, Tom. ❤|-/💛

Talking about "the few" going up against the enemy, I heard someone say recently that if it's you and God against the whole world the world is outnumbered. When I was a teenager I found my favorite Bible verse, John 16:33, where Jesus says, "These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” I was so amazed when I found out that Tyler has this very same scripture reference tattooed on his right arm in Roman numerals. He and I are the same age and I sometimes wonder if we found that verse around the same time.

I have a hard time picking a favorite song on this album. There's genuinely not a single song on Clancy that I don't love which is something I've never experienced with an entire album before. But Paladin Strait I think has the most special place in my heart of all of them. I managed to catch it on the live stream and when he went into that bridge it hit me so hard I dropped my head back, closed my eyes, put my hand over my heart and both headphones over my ears, and I felt like I was meditating. It was an incredibly emotional experience for me. To me the song means something different (as music does to each person who listens to a song). I've been dealing with severe housebound agoraphobia for several years. I've done some big incredibly hard and traumatizing things like moving 100 miles away and it has made me feel even more like I was drowning than I did before, my "safe zone" ended up getting smaller and smaller to the point where I can't even leave my street without panic. Getting out of this hole and pushing my comfort zone has been the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. So that bridge in particular is quite literal to me. "Can't be sure that I'll make it even though I'm past the point of no return." feels like me literally stepping out of my incredibly small comfort zone not sure if I'll be able to reach my destination, but I'm out and I have no choice but to either see it through or travel the same path back which is just as hard. It truly feels like the point of no return. And I like to imagine that that person on the other shoreline that I'm getting a glimpse of is my healed self, patiently waiting for me to join them literally and figuratively. Waitin', expectations that I'm gonna make it. I listened to paladin strait on my last exposure therapy drive and I just sang my heart out and cried. it means so so much to me. I'm so happy we finally arrived here.

Thank you for sharing this. I have the same meditative response to this song. And the 'you' is interchangeable for me. Have to have faith that I'll get what I need when I need it. |-/ 💛

Exactly. I think you are taking the exact message that was intended. You are on the other shoreline, healed and ok, and stronger from the experience. Seeing yourself there will help you put the path into place to get there. I don't know you, but I am rooting for you. You will get there. Keep swimming.

I agree he is probably talking to God. But as an alternative I like to think he could be talking about us, the fans, waiting for him on the other side.

Interesting that you see religion in this, and not himself, in the future, where everything is going to be ok, on the other side. Similarly to Backslide, the 'I should have loved you more' line being a conversation between one and the critical self-doubting voices that we all deal with in our heads. I think you might be placing too much on the religious aspect of things, and not on the mental health aspect of dealing with your own worst inner critic and doubt, and how it would be easier to swim the strait if only we knew things were going to turn out ok in the end, when we're safely on the shore of the other side. Paladin being a person who fights for a cause, with the very cause being ourselves, and the importance of fighting for our own futures every day, and overcoming our biggest obstacles in the world, ourselves. Not religion. Very interesting that religion was your take, of all the people who give reaction to their music, I thought you would have gone a different direction.
