God, this fight was amazing seeing both characters get the respect they deserve, not like Goku vs Superman 2's "Superman isn't MEANT to be relatable, he is not MEANT to lose" angle the playful comradery between Goku and Superman throughout the animation, treating the fight as a competition between friends (probably even better than Might vs Might tbh) the animation was absolute eye-candy seeing the alternate timelines of Goku and Superman fighting each other, with MasakoX and ItsJustSomeRandomGuy making their cameo voice appearances that ending...man that ending brought me to tears Boomstick's heartfelt speech to Wiz about the fun of versus debating and the Next Time reveal... This was ALMOST everything I could have asked for, I just wished they found a way to incorporate the "Goku vs Superman" theme from The Blake Robinson Synthetic Orchestra which was practically the anthem for the first 2 fights. Though Ben did say he wanted this episode to stand apart from the previous two, so I kinda get it.

I really enjoyed this episode, i think everything was great from the analysis, the fight, the characterisation, and the ending. It brought justice to both characters, and as a fan of both series thats all i could really ask for. Plus, Galactus vs Unicron finally happening was the cherry on top. Yeah, That was one of the most absurdly amazingly awesome episodes I have ever seen. Right next to Courage vs Scooby Doo, And Bill vs Discord. The animation was radical, the track was also radical, and the clip of Xeno Goku fighting off against Cosmic Armor Superman was also cool. The end of the animation was also spectacular and the concept of Goku vs Superman is truly what matters most, Rather than who wins. I may not like this matchup to an immense degree, but I’m glad both got the proper treatment in terms of better analyses, a godlike fight, and a conclusion that’s probably the best in the entire show. Absolutely putting this at a high 12/10. I love this episode very much that it is the first ever to get me this hyped. The analysis is on point, using other materials to explain their character. But almost at the end of the analysis, it did hit my feeling a bit that they told about between East (Anime) and West (Superheroes), and both of these are the iconic characters. Superheroes also aren't all completely rigid and strict in their views, they've changed over time as people and society have changed over time. At first, I wasn’t too keen on retreading this particular match. Goku vs Superman is a matchup a ton of people feel very passionate about & the community can get very toxic about, very fast. This is especially true because of the nature of the type of Dragonball fans that are convinced their verse is the strongest in canon & no one can contest their characters, especially Goku. This is certainly far from the truth as there are several series that eclipse Dragonball in powers & hax, but we’re getting off track. When I saw the previews, I started warming up to the idea of Deathbattle revisiting the match that was the inspiration for this show. I understood the cast & crew wished to flex their talents and what they learned over the past decade, and what better match to redo than their original magnum opus. Plus, both Superman & Goku had an entire decade of new material to explore. What about this episode? I’m happy to say that this episode justifies its reason for existing. The amount of care that went into the respective analysis, the awesome track, the beautiful animation we got, the respect both characters deserve. All of it was immaculate. While this wasn’t my absolute favorite episode of the season, I recognize quality & passion when I see it, and the crew brought their A game. But what sticks with me the most is what Boomstick says at the end of the video. Doing these matches for fun & the enjoyment of exploring these characters is integral & I completely agree. Deathbattle has shown me how cool a ton of characters can be & I would’ve passed them by otherwise. I definitely appreciate this VS show for introducing me to so many awesome series & characters to check out. Finally, we got the Season 10 Finale fight, and all I gotta say… I’m finally glad we’re getting Glactus vs Unicron. It’s been a long time coming, but I am so hype it’s happening!

i think the most important thing mentioned (26:15-26:19) is why so many people (myself included) believe Goku beats Superman. He'd beat all the different individual versions of Superman, often easily. He just can't beat the original Superman (A.K.A the composite of EVERY SINGLE FEAT and power showing, no matter how ludicrous). This matches up with showing of power where Superman is constantly being shown to lose to much weaker characters and his abilities/power seem to constantly fluctuate, where as Goku only gets stronger and scales higher the longer his story goes. Overall- i'm extremely happy as they covered everythign so well, and explained clearly and without bais why things would go down the way they did. Probably THE best battle of the entire career of DeathBattle

This reasoning doesn't really work for a couple reasons Goku was the one who was made a composite in this fight because they had to use both movies and games for Goku just for him to stand even remotely a chance here The main canon iterations of Superman demonstrably have far better feats than Goku Goku consistently jobs to the latest new big bad. It doesn't help that he's never beaten anyone on his own since the Frieza saga. In fact, he has far more losses than wins and the wins he tends to have are almost all assisted.

Supermans verious version (based on who was writing him at the time) mean his abilites and powers constantly fluctuate, which is why we have Superman who can sneeze away a galaxy, and other ones who get bodied by Batman in a powersuit. Goku on the other hand, has a mostly linear story where he only gets more powerful/skilled the longer it goes on, and only has 2 branching versions (GT and Heroes). Deathbattle have shown that most of those other versions of Superman would be beaten by Goku, but the main version, who is a composite of all his best feats, is too much for Goku, even at his current level. It's solid reasoning and puts the debate to bed once and for all

On the other hand, another story years later within the latter storyline flat out says that that version of Superman was in fact holding back the entire time, pretty much saying that the only reason Batman "won" is because Superman let him. Powerful yes, Skilled no. Dragon Ball Super's anime and manga are written by two different people, which causes just as much of a fluctuation than Superman's, especially considering that they're suppose to be based on the same story

Edit: i also saw on the Death Battle Wiki that they also had. Drip Goku cameo too, but I couldn’t find it myself I have a potential new trivia question you can ask. As it paused, took a screen shot and then zoomed in I found out all versions of Superman and Goku was fighting in the different universes, and I found out 4 (5 if you count Dragon Ball Z Abridged Goku who was fighting a version of Superman in term of who was faster to see who got the last muffin) versions of the Goku they used where fan made, so you could scrap out one and replace it with another fan made version of Goku that did not appear. One of them are Old Goku (who was fighting Kingdom Come Superman in bingo. The second one was Courage The Cowardly dog as Goku fighting Scooby as Superman (I called the Super Scooby & Gourage), the third version was is Super Saiyan 5 AF Goku who was fighting Milkman Man. And the last one is Kakaeotto from Dragon Ball Multiverse.

To put it terms of a 10 Round Boxing match, Goku was in the lead on points. He landed so many clean, well-executed hits. The part where he was in Ultra Instinct and just walloping Supes was amazing. But in the 10th round Supes decided to throw his biggest hits until one connected and it was done. I don't have a dog in this fight, not really favoring one or the other, but listening to all the feats of both of them, I don't know if Goku has what it takes to really hurt Supes. Knock him around? Sure. Throw him around? Yeah. Hurt him? I don't see it short of cheating with Kryponite... which we know Goku wouldn't do.

I think Goku is satisfied because, as a man who strives to overcome his limits, he can have sparring matches with a man who has no limits. Regardless of outcome, Goku has the perfect sparring partner that will keep him growing stronger. In turn, Superman has to always exercise the supreme level of discipline it takes to avoid destroying everything around himself with even slight gestures. The "World of Cardboard Speech" at KZbin video /watch?v=Cl_5UwS57X8 emphasizes this. With Goku, Supes has that "rare opportunity" to cut loose. Keep in mind that both contestants know about the Dragonballs (Superman used them to restore the destroyed Earth at the beginning of the second video) being used to grant a wish to restore *everything* back to normal, no matter what happens...Both of them know that there are no noticeable, lasting or permanent effects. The Death Battle crew made sure to include *everything* from both characters, including alternate realities that would not normally be "official canon" with the mainstream version of the character. they wanted to be certain that *both* of them would be performing at their absolute *best* for this, which is the only way Goku wants it anyway. Regardless of who wins, what matters most is the fight itself...Using words like epic & awesome don't even to begin to cover it. I mean, this was "an act that brought the house down," so how could anything else they do act as an *encore* to the shattering of reality? IMO, this is a piece of fiction that was meant to *entertain* & anyone who can't even appreciate *that* for what it is probably has some kind of hatred going on.

The problem with their universe sizing is that it uses our observable universe as the base for any stated infinite universe unless there is a number stated otherwise (like dc and marvel). That’s straight up a fallacy since our universe is not as big as the observable universe, it’s just what we can see (hence the name). It would make a lot more sense to normalize the universe size value rather than use a number that’s objectively wrong (unless you believe there’s a wall infinitesimally close to where we can observe in the universe… in which case it wouldn’t apply because both of these have stated infinite sized universes anyway)

I though the skull and bones was courage vs Scooby, but now, i think i was wrong. Gojo vs Makima is rhe suit. The pentagram is Scooby vs Courage. I belive Unicron vs Galactus is the skull, the main symbol of death, basicly, what both caracthers are.

Just thought of a Death Battle: Mecha Hitler vs Mecha Nixon vs Mecha President (Destroy all Humans). All are heads controlling mechs that take matters into their own hands. Finale I thought it was Kyle or Ash Ketchum or Ashley Williams.

Any speedy character against anyone else is a dumb fight. The speedy character always has to do something stupid, or not do something, because they have years to move while the other guy doesn't. That's why Batman vs Superman is a dumb fight. The fight is entirely reliant on Superman just letting things happen. That said you can trap a speedster, but that's not really a fight. Because a fight in the first place is unreasonable for someone without superspeed of any kind.

ok i got lot to say when saw the next time for goku vs superman i was not happy that was not happy it was one of my least favorite matchup because superman stomps but when i saw the ep i was stun i love the ep the learning for goku and superman i still need to watch it over and over to get it and remember it i was brain fried from all of it and now the fight i love it so much seeing ultra instinct for the first time on death battle was so good and the fight was very fast pass and the ending was so good seeing the avatar was great and at least goku got good care for his death and now superman and goku are good friends and the ending of the conclusion i learn vs matchups are just for fun and characters have there story's and i love it so next time galactus vs unicron i hype for it i think galactus vs unicron will be a very fun time so lets see it be better then goku vs superman and goku vs superman it's been a while but 10/10 i got to think about if it's better then Dragonborn VS Chosen Undead
