This is hardshell jacket made for skiing and winter sport functionality. If its freezing and windy I would recommend a layer under it! Sadly, I dont know what a membrane is....If you let me know I can better answer your question! Sorry about that.

@@TheJacketKing thanks. Membrane in clothing is a type of material that lets vapor out and does not let water in. One of the examples is gore-tex, but there are some other brands on the market, too.
