Great discussion and presentation of ineffective flow hydraulics and model setup. A follow-up "Part 2" discussion on the topic, exploring 1D steady flow modeling for overbank and backwater channels on wide floodplains would be great! These videos are part of my "go to" HEC-RAS references. Keep up the great work!

Another thing to note about Ineffective flow areas and their location and elevation within a cross section, is that typically Agencies will call out "crossing profiles". And when all else fails to try and modify the geometry, adjusting ineffective flow area elevation and locations that go against the typical rules, is a normal fix for this

I think initiative and enthusiasm to learn is most imporant thing for grads and interns. Having said I do dislike the culture of interns just being cheap labor, I dont think anyone should be expected to work for free, although similarly dont think smaller businesses should be expected to cough up good money to an intern. The engineering field would gain overall if interns got paid because I think it would force businesses to treat interns as an investment instead of just someone you can get to do free/cheap labor.
