Useful. Thanks. The only thing I would like to know that was not said in the video is that when we find a trigger point should we keep relaxed the muscles at all times, should we relax the pelvic muscles at the same time we are adding pressure to the trigger points or not?

I have this too, how do you cure it?

I'm a 60 yr old male with what I believe is proctalgia. (No help from gp in this diagnosis). It's usually a severe cramping of the internal rectal muscle, normally wakes me during the night as it starts, and can last between 5 and 120 minutes. Usually a dull but very powerful ache but occasionally enough to make me pass out. I also have ejaculatory anhedonia. Can these be connected? Is this treatment possibly suitable for me? I have a wand as it was recommended to me by a specialist practitioner

I would imagine that a lot of pelvic pain therapists would say these are connected. Have you read ‘A Headache in the Pelvis’?

Hard to find a pelvic therapist in the UK that actually acknowledges that men even have pelvic muscles. Let alone one who has heard of proctalgia. Even fewer understand that ejaculation and orgasmic sensation can be two separate things. I will look into the book. Thanks

only1utdanditsleeds I’m in the UK too, there are a few dotted around, one in Scotland, one in Birmingham, one in London, one in Southampton I think. I’m going to see someone on the NHS who, when I saw him about 6 years ago, said the Stanford Protocol (treating this illness as a muscle condition) was outdated, but then I found one of his lectures online and it was talking about trigger point therapy and that kind of thing for women with the female equivalent of all this. So I’ve asked for another referral to him to see if his opinions have changed on the matter. I’ll be very surprised to see a pelvic pain specialist like that on the NHS but hopefully I’m wrong. Let me know if you want any info on the pelvic pain therapists I mentioned.

Weirdly I have just made contact with the therapist in Southampton. I live some distance away from her and due to family and work stuff I can't get to see her now but I'll get there as soon as I can. I did see a therapist in Reading a couple of years ago who introduced me to the trigger point stuff and he was excellent but I THINK he was taught by the lady in Southampton so I'll try a course with her.

can you use this for bacterial prostatitis? I do not know what type I have but my urologist told me most likely is bacterial. Could I still use this?

nutcase has you tried treatment with a pelvic pain specialist?

nutcase that sounds pretty bad with the bacterial guy - do you mind me asking his name? I don’t blame you for stepping away from it for a while, I’ve done the same tbh but I’m going to give it another go soon.

You’re being way too formal and using esoteric jargon to be of any use. Speak plainly or hire someone who can. Get out of your own way.
