The Raw Life so glad to hear you are doing well and going to rest,. I may be going down the same journey soon so thank you for sharing your experience. Just wondering did they give you the tool for blowing into to clear lungs. I was just curious because your voice sounds a bit different hard for me to explain but it has the sound like when my son's asthma is really bad. Big hugs hope you feel better soon.

Your port looks great. I know how you feel not wanting to look at it. I had my colon removed due to Ulcerative Colitis , which left me with a ileostomy. I had a hard time looking at my stoma (which I since named her Rosie 🌹) . Now I love her , she saved my life ! I sincerely hope all your health issues are resolved. Paul, your Mom and the pups are great . 💚🐶🐶🙏

Your port looks so good trust me that port is an amazingly good port Janiece. I have seen a lot of nasty ports but your port looks fabulous and has healed up so well already you have no bruising. The pain your in is probably all muscular pain as having a port will bruise your muscles and cause pain lifting your arm or even moving your arm. So glad you are home and hope your pain starts to ease over the next few days.

I think the word you were looking for is heebie jeebies?? I know a lot of spanish words are hard to translate, but I always took it to mean the heebie jeebies. Spanish is my second language though, so I could be wrong. (:

Krisanne DeVries That sounds much closer to right. Janeice’s 🐸 phobia I think is totally different from the icky feeling her mom gets from seeing the surgery site. “Heebie-jeebies” or the equivalent sounds like what she’s describing, more so than mere “disgust”.

I love that pajama/sleep shirt. Paul did an awesome job picking that one out. I love your mom's silliness. She looks awesome for what her age must be to have you and your brothers as old as you are, unless I'm making you and your brothers out to be older than you are. At any rate, she looks too young to have grown married children.

Soooooo happy that you are finally home...your mom is to much...lol...the port doesn’t look bad at all...I can’t see why people would feel ick about it...my mom had to get this thing almost where your port is the size of a toothpick to measure her heart rhythm after she had her stroke and I asked if I could go down to the OR with her and they were like yeah thinking there was a place for me to sit and wait until it was done...they didn’t sedate her but had Valium there just in case...so the nurse comes to me and takes my pocketbook and puts it somewhere and scrubbed me up and totally sanitized me putting on scrubs and gloves hat shoes and mask and they said I could stand beside her holding her hand while they did it...it was the first time I felt like a doctor...and to be allowed in the OR was amazing...so the doctor comes in as I am standing by moms bed reassuring her everything will be fine and all and he asked if I faint at the sight of blood and I told him I have gone through worse things than this and was studying to be veterinarian so blood or anything didn’t bother me but to be sure he wanted me to sit next to my mom holding her hand which was fine...the nurse got me a chair and he said he was afraid I would faint once he got started and saw what he was doing...would have 2 patients instead of 1...but it was fine I had no issues...my mom was a trooper and she didn’t need the Valium...I really hope this was all worth it and you start putting some of your weight back on and feel better....I didn’t know they made an ensure clear....that’s cool...I love ensure and will drink it just for the hell of it...poor Paul between you and the other day with him in the ER and working and now the next following days...he is so great and understanding with you...sending positive healing energy from New York❤️💋 PS sorry this is so long...I just started typing and didn’t stop...lol

Is there only the one incision for your port or do you have one on your neck too where the catheter got threaded? I didn't see a neck incision (but they're super small) just wondering if they did the procedure differently because that could cause more pain. But the one incision looks great! Not even bruising! Swelling and pain will leave soon ;) oh and even though it hurts to move your arm, make sure you do smalls stretches every hour to keep it from getting stiffer! That's what I did with my port

I am so happy that you are now at home where you can rest without the beeping and nurses coming in all the time. It hurts cause of how they make a pocket for the port to sit in and how they make it is quite rough on the skin and muscles plus the swelling from the surgery is not helping with the pain but I hope that it settles down quickly so that it will be less painful for you. The cut is very clean and not to much bruising at the moment. I am that this is going to help you so much and I hope that you will start to feel better when you start having fluids. I am happy that you are back with your puppies and I bet that they have missed you loads. Take care and God bless you all lot's of love from me kelli xxxxxx

Paul, you deserve rest too. You have been at the hospital and that can be so exhausting. I have stayed as a patient, and as a spouse. Rest is not easy to get in the hospital over night. You guys rest up and feel better. ❤️

It is so odd that some have minimal pain and then there is me. My port in 2017 hurt worse than the robotic hysterectomy 4 days later..and the gallbladder removal in 2014 and appendix 3 weeks before gallbladder removal

I have had both surgeries and a port placed TWICE, the gallbladder takes the cake. I was in so much pain for two weeks.

Wow, no strips? They did a good job glueing it. I’m surprised they didn’t access it for your fluids. When I got mine they hooked it up in interventional radiology and ran my fluids. I found it difficult to not extend my arm until it healed.

my surgeon felt it was best to not have it access until it was fully healed.
