In this episode I keep on with the wings, finishing up the lift spoilers, restoring the wing plates and improving the join! the_rc_pilots_log rcpilotslog #rcplane #rcpilot #scalerc

Another great video, thanks Rob. That is one beast of a plane, cant wait to see it fly. Its really interesting to see how you are going about the restoration 😀

Thank you mark! I love the size of it, but it's tricky to manage when assembled.

Rob - I'm currently building one of these from the original kit (sort of). I started building it in 1982 but it kept getting put to one side! My build is documented on the RCScalebuilder forum and the Flyingsites forum. You might want to have another think about that wing joint. Mick's original design was notorious for in-air failures so I've modified mine to have a glider-style vertical steel strip joiner. Mine was originally intended to have an OS61FSR, then an OS90FS but I'm now finishing it with a 1.7kW electric setup. The full size isn't really a motor-glider; it's more like an aerobatic tourer, and the model is similarly aerobatic. If you wanted to compare notes I can be contacted via either of the forums (I'm in Surrey). Regards, PDR

I'm finding these videos fascinating as I am currently building a MR Fournier (lockdown project) and have completed the woodwork, just covering and fitting out to do. I'm going electric. Interesting to see some of the mods done by the previous owner, eg, the beefed up trailing edge which is way too flimsy as per plan/kit. I too have made some changes as I found the model to be a little under-engineered in places. I have gone for micro servos in the wings for ailerons and (simplified) airbrakes. I think you'll need your spoilers as I've heard it's a very efficient wing and with an IC ticking over up front may be difficult to slow down for landing etc. Make sure there's around 2° washout in each wing panel as per plan (it's inbuilt during construction using tabs on the ribs that are cut off later), as it looks tip stalling may be likely without it. Glad you got the retract unit from MR which is really quite a nice unit. Incidentally, the method for keeping the wings together at the trailing edge is to use locating dowels. These seem to be missing from yours and are in addition to the wing bolts. I've documented my build with loads of photos for the fun of it! Looking forward to the next episode(s).

A bit slap dash, as it stands is the right time to get everything perfect the long push rods need to go and make servo doors for maintenance all new electronics and the cockpit could look fantastic with some led’s and make the panels glow new full set of landing lights it really should be done right and not it will do.
