I got mine at this summer’s FPV Fest in Ohio. Flew it alongside 3 others at dusk. It was a Lightshow like I have never seen before. It will thermal very well and handles a bit of wind here and there. I love my UMX Radian, so this is just a bigger version.

Thank you for showing us how to behave when the fun hobby of ours bites back ,i have been flying for many years and dont crash that often ,but when i do i really let myself down ,i swear at myself and really take it badly ,and then i cannot fly again for days at a time because of the embarrassment .We put so much effort in to flying for our own fun and hopefully giving the dog walkers and runners at the field something to watch ,i hope people will forgive me when it happens and not think the worst of me

I had a radian for a while and I liked it. I could do a 2 minute climb and stay up for an hour with thermals. Now this looks like a cool one for night flying. Nice flying kiddo.

Wow, what a beautiful plane. I thin k I would burn through a few batteries flying that baby. And Nate that sure is a talented co-pilot you found to work with you. I also agree with Nate about having the light controls on the controller. It would be "more funner" to actually be able to change them on the fly rather than having to land every time. We can hope that is a future upgrade. Great flying guys and a great video because of that fantastic camerawoman you have.

Absolutely love the glider,love the colors. For such a great plane with the color combinations I CAN NOT believe they made such a BONE HEAD mistake and did not give you a way to control the lights from the ground.❕❕❕❕. Great review. The additional development and kit cost of providing the 4th channel, of merely on/off control, for the lights would surely plant the entire project firmly outside their target cost necessitated by enticing the broad demographic delivering their target sales number. Sounds funny but a small part like that can sometimes throw a large project directly into a cocked hat by eliminating cost margins or violating scheduled deadlines. Keep in mind also, only the most contemporary and advanced manufacturing workflows enable them to deliver these incredible models at these prices. Only a decade ago a ready built 2m sailplane would probably cost about the same amount of money, except it wouldn't come with any electronics, motor, servos, motor controller, not to mention the LED controller ALONE would have set you back conceivably MORE than the entire kit COMBINED. Yes. $200-$400 dollars for the LED controller alone. So please, for the sake of us old nuts who originally had to spec night-flyers out from scratch parts, don't expect them to "give" you an extra purposefully functional channel without further trade offs regarding quality or control.

I purchased one and have had noting but great flight experiences . One of my favorite planes to fly for a relaxing flight . I will say it is not mentioned in the instructions, however it DOES matter which wing you plug in to which open port .

I taped glow sticks on my wings on my Apprentice last summer. It really looked cool! I also had multicolored lights on my plane too. With a glider, its best to just take it up high and drop the throttle. I do thermals on my mini Radian and it will stay up all day.

I love that glider. I am on the fence about that $300 crawler. It's beautiful and I want it, but I live 29 feet above sea level. Not a lot to crawl on down here. At first tonight, I thought 'I'm buying this instead.' But then I found out there's work involved. I don't even have a transmitter I could use, I don't think. Disappointing. But not the thing. The thing is fantastic. I'm just not in the hobby to figure out how to build stuff. I just want to fly stuff.

Yeah, the initial startup costs for hobby-grade aircraft can get expensive in a hurry. However, if you plan it right, a lot of that gear can serve you well as you progress and expand your fleet. I think there is a lighted “night” version of the WLToys F959 Sky-King, or maybe it is the XK A700C (same airplane; both brands owned by the same company). Of course, much smaller, no AS3X stabilization, and no fancy light patterns, but I’m pretty sure it was under $100 ready to fly, everything in the box (minimal assembly, very easy). Nate and Abby reviewed at least one, maybe both, lighted versions a while back, if you’re interested. Could be a good way to try the hobby before deciding whether to invest in more “serious” (expensive) equipment. Hope that helps! 😁

I was thinking again about this glider. My go-to local hobby shop's site tells me it requires a DSMX-compatible transmitter, but it says it has to be 5+channel. I have the MLP4DSM that comes with the Inductrix Switch quads. The interwebs inform me that is only a 4-channel transmitter. But you say the glider is only 3 channels, so I'm wondering why the Inductrix one wouldn't work. Any idea? I actually might go ahead and do this, buying a transmitter and all. But not if I don't have to. :)

There's a lead you can plug in a extra channel that works like a switch, ...just splice it into the wires and put it on a spare channel....I had it on a fg marder to work the headlights :)

There are two RC units that you can hook up so you can adjust the lights from your transmitter. That inferior one is a j Bauer Electronics. there is another one that has a variable in it and it will change your lights accordingly. And it will also flash red and green on your wing tips for orientation

Great plane. Takes practice to land in smaller fields especially if you are used to planes with less "float". The lights are cool but I wouldn't buy the plane just for them. Young Lane is some pilot :) It's not easy to swap genres of planes but he did well with something totally outside his experience.

It's amazing that a ten year old with 9 months of flying experience can switch from flying 3D to flying gliders. I've hard a hard time with the old timers at my field getting them to fly gliders, they push the sticks and expect an immediate response like they get with their warbirds or acro planes. I tell them you don't fly a glider you make suggestions and corrections and give it time to respond to control inputs. Once they get that idea they seem to do a lot better.
