Abbey when I was learning how to ride motorcycles I kept going up in size, speed and power,and I was told I wouldn't respect the machine until I have a crash. It was true. A couple crashes I got better and better at it and became a safer rider because of it .Just like your baby when she starts walking. And you're going to get better as your experience will improve. Keep up the good work Abbey.

@@mrehollis6288 Exactly although I always relate it to learning to walk, you watch children, they topple and fail a couple time but they are determined to succeed no matter what obstacles are challenging them and before you know it they become very skilled at not only walking but go on to more advanced skills. She is doing an amazing job of landing and as a flyer even better. Cheers , love watching the videos , just not so happy personally as the prices to own these rc toys in Canada is a bit more expensive so as a senior on a pension it takes a lot of saving .....still well worth it since the covid scare recently here means we must isolate and this helps a lot to enjoy that time much more. All the best to all for the future. I'm just now looking for a beginner friendly pllane as I have been in to helicopters and drones so far and love flying. t/hank you both so much for these videos, they do really help tons.

Hi rc saylors. My name is Rodney, I live in Sydney Australia and through watching your videos on the rc aeroscout aeroplane I've purchased one from frontline hobbys store in Newcastle Australia today with two 3s 2200mah batteries. I haven't got it yet but are looking forward to flying it. I have no flight experience so was unsure whether to get one, because of you two I decided to purchase it and have a go. Thank you both for your videos of this awesome plane and other rc vehicles. I'm hanging to pick it up and fly it somewhere but I'm very nervous of it. I've got a huina dump truck and the 1580 excavator and 1583 front loader and an ecto element trail truck but for the first time I'm nervous as anything about flying the aeroscout but from your videos I should be OK hopefully. You guys are fantastic with all your videos. Keep up the great work. I wish I could do my maiden flight with both of you as I'm a bit scared and I haven't even got it yet. But your videos made me want one.

I really do like it when Abby flies on the channel. It really gives the channels viewers some variety. Its also fun to see someone, still learning. Its nice to see a lady flying, and i am sure this would give other lady’s some interest in flying. I think Abby is leaving it to long between flights. If Abby had her own plane, that she could fly every time you do a video for another product, off camera, her confidence and experience will grow. The more you fly your own model, the less you will feel you are going to crash, when it comes to flying something else. Abby, you also have a really experienced pilot with you all the time. Make good use of this. When i was learning, i would say to the experienced pilot, that i may suddenly hand him the transmitter, so be ready. I found that the experienced pilot needed to show me, by me handing over the transmitter, how to get out of a bad situation, not try to leave me on the sticks and tell me, till i really got myself into a really bad situation. Thats no good. As i was starting to panic and if they took the transmitter from me and explained, i got it quicker and above all the plane was in safe hands. Show me what i done wrong, then straight away let me have another go, and practice what i done wrong, but still with the knowledge, I could still hand over the transmitter to him if needed. That was my safety net, if i felt i had lost orientation, or confidence in what i had to do. The more time i got on the sticks the more my confidence grows, the less i had to hand over the transmitter. You will get there, the more you fly. Fly as much as is possible. All the best to your whole family. Keith. UK 🇬🇧

Abby, you're a far better pilot than you think. Always have been. As you say yourself "crashing is part of the hobby" I've "landed" more planes than I like to count, in trees, in bushes and once in a pond. Give yourself a break and enjoy the hobby.....even the crashes xx

I started flying in the 70's when most models were Balsa and plywood and a long building process. It was always a lot of nervousness when you took off with a screaming nitro engine pulling your creation but no describing the feeling when it lifted off and flew and you knew you had done a good job. We crashed and rebuilt. Watching you folks fly and discuss your planes is so much fun. It's just as thrilling to you flying the foamies as it ever was to us old times. I used to have a Flyzone Sensei. Loved that plane it got downwind at the flying field and disappeared into a heavily wooded area and never found even after several drone searches by a friend. I now only have a Drone and A Flyzone Calypso glider that I just climb to altitude and catch a few thermals. Sometimes I drop parachutes with either plane or drone. Great Videos.

The best tip I have learned for landing and depth perception is look at the shadow on the runway. It helps sooooo much. I fly off a skinny road with ditches on either side that slope down very steep, and I line the shadow up with the line on the road and it is a piece of cake!!!

I was thinking this morning- Day one with 2 WL Toys Skyhawks. 1st plane made it 10 seconds, ran it into a steel bleacher. Plane 2 (Same day) ran it into a 20 foot high chain link fence. 3rd Skyhawk (about a week later) flew it on a windy day. It found the tallest pine tree in the Park. 3 years later the fuselage is still wedged. Learning experiences... Unfortunately, my start in this sport nothing was recoverable: Then I found KZbin. Thanks to you two I got better. And thanks to your videos my 1st and only charger was the Venom Pro Quad. Forgot to thank you two for putting that video together.

Amelia can fly airplanes. That isn't a shocker given her eponym. She's such a cute kid, y'all. Also, nice work Abby. I'll fly mine one of these days. Right now I've not even been keeping up with the videos. I'm on granddad duty. Started Wednesday, so have gotten through the school part. Now one Saturday, four kids, and a wake up. It's tiring but it's rewarding a lot of the time. If this seems disjointed, let me remind you: Four kids. Two are little, one is medium, and the teenage boy gets bossed around by me to help me cope with this stuff. :)

Great job Abby! I’m still learning too after taking up the hobby this year at 62 years old! I have an apprentice mini, I most of the time fly in beginner mode .i practice slow flybys as if I’m going to land it helps me a lot although I crashed it once I was able to repair it myself and got it back in the air. I love this hobby and love your channel keep up the good work!

i bought one of these things a few months ago, and ive NEVER flown anything but paper airplanes.... most of which crashed. i'm not a pilot, i dont have flight simulators, never flew a drone, etc. etc. first time it went up, within ten minutes i was buzzing myself, landing, taking off, going up, down, figure 8's, crosswind landings with the rudder thingy, landed on the school roof, etc. i spent the last ten minutes or so flying it at about 6' off the ground so my dogs could chase it. Never a crash, no damage, no nothing. This thing is a dream. Beginner mode is great! next day i flew it straight into a tree and we broke the nose off getting it down. drat. i just transferred the engine and stuff to a new airplane body and i look forward to flying it again tomorrow. Now i want an f22 :P

You are doing fine, Abby. I wanted to fly very badly, and that is exactly what I did for a while. I even gave up and bought a boat and a truck, but I wanted to fly. So I simmed and simmed on Realflight, and built Flite Test planes to stop crashing $100 bills. Finally, a few years later, I feel confident that I can fly almost anything. And probably land it safely. OK maybe land it fairly safely... but I got very upset when I wrecked ANOTHER new plane. So believe me, I understand. Gotta get that muscle memory, so there is no thinking really, it's like your fingers know what to do. And that just comes with repetition. You are over the hardest part, though. Pick out a beater and go beat on it, try the scary stuff and see what happens. And when I crash now - I laugh! I really do. Even if I sigh when I see what I've done...again... Fly, Crash, Repair..........Repeat!

After much research about which plane to use to get into the the hobby I chose Areoscout and your videos helped me to make that decision. I hadn't flown an RC airplane in 25 years and then they were cheap read to crash things. Got lucky to pick up Real Fight 8 sim used. RF8 was an invaluable tool to help learn. Today was a nice calm morning and in a large field I flew the Areoscout for the first time. In 10' it left the ground and and in safe mode it was a breeze to fly. Landing was chopping the power and let it landed itself. Even did a touch and go. Thanks for a great recommendation.

Abby, I'm sorry if I ever said anything in the comments that might have added to your lack of confidence. As Nate has said to all of us you're going to crash and you have to be ok with that. You seem to very accomplished as a pilot. Those were beautiful landings so you haven't lost your touch. My uncles all flew balsa gliders when I was a kid. Even though they had been flying for years, I can remember them having a bad year or two where everything they flew they crashed. And a balsa plane crash takes forever to fix and can be very expensive. My point is, don't be discouraged, I think you did a great job. Keep moving forward! We're all pulling for you!

Abby, I crashed my XK X500 so many times it was nose heavy with so much glue! So what of all your crashes, it is part of a learning curve for each plane. I have hit a light pole as well but I bet no one has accomplished my best bone head move. I actually hit myself with the the plane, WITH on board video at full speed! Many laughs at myself for that video! Proud of you Abby for getting back on the horse! Proud of Amelia for helping Daddy with the throttle! Nate, just a tip. Good job but take off the auto focus, focus on something far away and the close ups will be in focus as well. Loved the Daddy Amelia video! Hope to see more of her. As an experienced flyer, my problem with my AeroScout is the "Safe" settings. For me, "Safe" is great for no worry takeoffs, but I really have a problem when in "Safe" and I want to make a turn but the plane fights me. So for me, I takeoff in safe, immediately switch to expert (?) and fly it with the feeling I have control. My first flights were hairy until I figured it out. I even added some nose weight , 30 finishing nails to the nose. Just my observations with my plane. Oh, and nice flying Abby.

Abby, The first thing my instructor told me many years ago when I first started flying RC is that there are 2 types of RC planes, those that have crashed and those are are going to crash. He said if I could not handle that I was in the wrong hobby. So just realize everyone who flies RC has crashed at one time or another, it's going to happen, when it does you just pick up the pieces and move on. Don't let crashing get you down, the enjoyment of flying far out weighs the couple minutes of depression immediately following a crash.

Love the aeroscout. I got it about 2 weeks ago and its great. I crashed it really hard a couple times but I glues and taped it and it still flies great. Its my very first plane and its taking some time. But thats the fun part

Great job Abby. I gave up three years ago... no longer could fly standing up... was flying from a folding chair. 1947 First fight ... last flight of fixed wing acft. 2016. However, because of TheRcSaylors (Abby, Nate and Amanda) I fly quads indoors, outdoors, and during our dry season hope to fly a 3D printed Acft. 80 on July 2020. Joseph B Schauber (Sonny) joekadet

I enjoyed seeing Abby's return to flying! The Aeroscout S looks very beginner friendly. The "panic recovery mode" is very reassuring. I like the nose wheel steering. 15:35 Amelia's turn at the controls was awesome!

I'm with you on some planes. I have a zazzy that you guys talked me into over two years ago that I haven't flown. And now I have a P51 going on 6 months that I haven't flown but I have a night radian that has 3 takeoffs and 2 landings!!! Well it was a mess but almost as good as new now. Foam tact glue does wonders so don't worry so much.
@sunspot6502
@sunspot6502 4 жыл бұрын
Go fly that zazzy! And your P51. No hanger queens! Pick a nice day and go for it... just check that CG!!! I think that's the biggest newbie downfall - it was/is for me... Then again, as I mentioned above, I found that part of the cure for me was to fly something you don't really care much about, like a Flite Test foamboard plane you slapped together. Takes most of the fear out of crashing, builds confidence and the always-important muscle memory. And lots of Realflight on the PC - Fly, Crash, Reset: a new plane every time!!

Abby, Great job! If you knew how many planes I've crashed you would be laughing. I bought the carbon cub S+ after watching your video. I can say the only thing that hasn't been changed is the wing! But it has filler and a new paint job. So I went with flite test planes as it's easy to repair and trust me I have a lot of repairs in them. But I'm still trying to figure it out. I almost can fly about 6 minutes then I have to land or the truth crash. So keep up the great work! Nate your awesome with working on her skills. I wish I had someone to help me that way.

This really is a great and fun plane. I fly mine 99% of the time with SAFE just because it is so easy and fun. I do Flip the switch to roll and loop all the time though. If it gets out of control just flip the switch and fly it away. It is my second plane. Not sure if I would recommend it as a first plane or not.I learned on a cheap 70$ eachine mini mustang and I am glad I did. I do love both planes and fly them both whenever I can!!

You guys have to go to Flight Test store and buy a kit that you can use your old motors and electronics in. They have some great stuff very inexpensive and ease to build. Crash rebuild fly again, have fun and not spend a mint. I am not affiliated with flight test, just like their stuff.

I feel ya, Abby. I'm going through the same thing with non-altitude hold drones. I used to be pretty good but I'm going blind from retinopathy and optic nerve damage. I'm 20/40in my left eye but 20/200 in my right eye. Depth perception and blind spots have made anything but nearly automated flying near impossible. I know I can still fly over wide open spaces...but all the crashing has me frustrated to the point, I won't even play with indoor toy drones.

I wish i can get half as good as you Abby. Lol but that big one would be my first real plane not like the two i have like they both have two propellers and one a pusher on the back of the wings and the other the propellers are in the front of the wings but i will get that big one sooner or later lol thank you so much for helping me out

See, its easy 👍 I have been flying a lifetime. If i got down for every crash i had i would of stoped years ago. Its just part of the seen, Abby. We all do it. How many cheap drones have i totally lost, when trying to convert from planes. We won’t go there Abby. 🤪 Just keep going, till ya bash another one. Then have another go. It really does not matter. 👍 Keith 🇬🇧.

My first RC was a balsa job with a .15 OS engine. Very nice looking plane. Crashed it. Nothing but sticks and scraps, bent prop shaft so engine ruined. Very discouraging. But I've seen people with lots of experience crashing fantastic scale jobs. It comes with the territory. It's easier to learn now since excellent simulators are available, but sooner or later you're going to crash or lose a plane in some other way. It's all part of the hobby.
