Such a good idea for NYT to add a section to their website that is a preselected ‘world events’ particularly given most world events are reported in the press the following day it would certainly encourage people to be more confident on their selection. Given the jigsaw looks such nice quality its a pity they haven’t completed the piece of the puzzle on the website with the ability to view the front pages on your selection.

Some more dates worth looking at (of course one day after the actual events!): May 22, 1927: Charles Lindbergh landed in Paris, completing the first solo airplane flight across the Atlantic Ocean. November 10, 1989: East Germany opened its frontier to the west. February 12, 1990: Nelson Mandela was released from prison after 27 years. Thank you for sharing this, Karen! I am so in love with the idea of doing a puzzle with one of these front pages. I cannot decide which one I should order but definetely will! Keep up your great work, I really enjoy all of your videos. Greetings from Germany (unfortunately not Ravensburg!)

It was fun to see you assemble this New York Times jigsaw puzzle. As someone who spent many hours on a commuter train, I can say positively that the newspaper headlines ALWAYS look more interesting when I am reading them over somebody’s shoulder. Ha ha. If I were getting this puzzle for someone, I might want to select the front page from the day they turned 18, so the stories would be familiar to them. Or for a historic page, I would pick “Nixon Resigns”.

A strategy I use is I put the pieces in my view the way it sees the puzzle. For example, if I’m working on my puzzle at the angle you are where it’s not facing you, but my pieces are also going that direction on the table sorted, not facing me. It helps my brain not have to work harder and also so it can’t play tricks on me. It helps me spot the unique pieces faster too. Also, I actually read the text parts. In this case I would have read the paper so that when I see a piece I may be able to read enough quickly by memory of reading it and find it’s spot easier. (This tip only works if you’ve got a preview of the finished puzzle of course) I loved this video; so satisfying!! I would buy a puzzle for the signing of the ADA, that is, if it was front cover news lol also; newspaper 🤟🧩

I was thinking about getting this for my dad's birthday but after seeing you, the puzzle master, struggle so much, perhaps not. Especially because 1948 had no pictures and very few headings/subheadings. And I should have guessed that the headlines would be american centric, it is the NEW YORK Times afterall!

Oh that looks so much fun!!! I'd love to do a newspaper page puzzle. The only thing that bothered me is that you did it sideways! I can't work on a puzzle unless it's up the right way - my brain just says nope! My mum still has some puzzles we got way back in the 70's and 80's, commemorating royal events here in the UK. Theres a couple for the Queen's silver jubilee, one of Charles and Diana's engagement, and one of their wedding. I don't think anyone has done them in years but we still have them for the nostalgia as much as anything.

Showing my age, I have a very old 1960s NYT NEWSPAPER jigsaw puzzle of the Titanic sinking, April 12, 1912, made by the Parker Brothers company. They made several other historic front page puzzles - end of WW2, first man in space etc. It is only 500 pieces but I did the puzzle again this year and with my aging eyesight it was HARD, but still Fun. I see them on eBay pretty often. I have looked at the personalized NYT puzzles available today and I agree with you that a historic event would be more interesting than a birthday. I’d get Obama’s election in 2008. Great video as usual, Karen!

I was at LSU in 2008 when the football team won the national championship. The school newspaper had a really cool cover that would be really fun as a puzzle.

I was binging a few of your videos the past couple of days and I'd thought about leaving a comment mentioning this puzzle! I got this for a friend of mine this last Christmas! I'm glad I got to see what he's in for lol

That _newspaper_ looks like a challenge. You inspired me to finally start on the first bag of ”Life” which has been sitting on my shelf for too long.

This is a super compelling puzzle idea. The puzzle itself looks so difficult but for someone who likes puzzles what a great gift.

This would be an epic clue for a scavenger hunt. Like something straight out of national treasure. It would also be really cool to know which date has been purchased the most.

If I were to get a newspaper puzzle, I’d like one for the day Disneyland opened. I’m glad to see you resorting to the brute force method, because I’ve had to do that and now I can admit it freely. : )

I think this is the third time I've watched this video - I'm really digging your rockin beats. In fact I enjoy your electro dance playlist on your videos a lot. Good choices Karen. I don't know if I'm alone but I could stand your puzzle videos to be a lot longer - real time even, with that backin beat. They also lend your vids an air of coolness totally lacking in any other jigsaw channel out there. Keep it up!

I'm sure it would be on a front page? But if I were to get one of those puzzles I would either want the page where Dolly the Sheep? I think was the name, of the cloned sheep was covered in the newspaper. It's one of those scientific achievements that still kind of feels surreal. That or something to do with the collider at CERN.

This is such a cool and unique gift idea! I checked the cover for my birthday, and definitely not so exciting but it would still be neat! I love that they thought of this idea - turning their newspapers into puzzles.
