First of all, I've been studying and/or collecting U.S. coins since 1964. There were 24 1894S Barber dimes made. The one spent by the little girl has been in the hands of a collector for many years. There's only one of the 94S dimes that have reached the $1.9M mark on that was in Jan. 2016 when that specimen fetched $1,997,500 at a Heritage auction. No other 94S has come close to that. All of them are rare and valuable but I guarantee no one will find one in circulation, so I wouldn't even waste my time looking for one. In fact, the remaining examples of this coin that are extant are already in the hands of collectors. The other dimes mentioned in this video won't be found in circulation either. The title of this video was designed to draw you into watching the video but it's false information.

Hello how are you? I was wondering if you could help me with the 2 dimes I just found. I have been collecting older change and was looking thru mine and just found 1968 dime no mark and a 1968 d mark. Do you think either would be valuable? Thank you for your time hun 💟
@1952creswell3 жыл бұрын
@@moonchildnumber8653 The only 1968 dime that has significant value is the proof dime (coins made specifically for collectors with bright reflective surfaces) that was made in San Francisco and failed to receive the "S" mint mark. Those particular coins are worth $10,000 - $30,000. The dimes made in Philadelphia and Denver are very common and are only worth ten cents. Hope this helps.

I had an employee that would always buy the change and old bills from liquor stores and convenient stores. On At least 5 occasions he found coins such as a 1972 double stamp? 1958 something or other and others. He proved his point twice we went directly from the store to the Coin Shop where he sold two of the coins . One sold for over $200 and the other went for over $580 dollars. Tho he "spends" alot of time doing this, generally every lunch break, it seems worth it. He made almost $5000 one year and used the money to goto a big gold mine that charges $1000 a day to let you dig , metal detect, etc... through their tailings pile. He came home with some amazing gold. One huge nugget was worth $35.000.... His friend brought home one valued at $75.000... He says it deffinetly doesn't always work out but it's better than sitting home In front of the idiot box being programmed to think that men using women's bathrooms is our countries most important topic...

It took some time, I found what I believe is a 1972 Double Stamp penny. 1972 is the year I was born thus the only coin I remember to look for. I have another hobby born from my Upholster's addiction. That is Gold Mining, Panning, Metal Detecting... Though I can't do Any of those things... I had been watching a Gold Mining Channel called Ask Jeff Williams ??? I've learned alot about what to look for when looking for places to mine. I've also been heavily into Mud Fossils and Out of Place Artifacts, as well as URBEX... Somehow that combination made me a MILLIONAIRE OVER NIGHT!!!! AMAZING, if it were true... Actually it did make me enough to by a Beautiful 1969 Mach1 Mustang.... What I noticed while collecting Rocks to make a Rock Garden Surround for My Girlfriend, was that I gravitated towards Rocks that bare characteristics that you would look for when hunting for places to mine. Living in the city doesn't give lots of options for Gold Panning, Mining , or Metal Detecting. What there are, is Lots of Friends and people with piles of Rocks in the corner of their yards, bordering their Walkways , Driveways, etc.. I collected Rocks the last couple years, and I picked Rocks I Liked. I Realized I had gravitated towards those you would look for in Mining. One Rock had a nice Quart, line and I had a chance to have a couple Rocks Cut Open, so I chose this Quarts lined Rock. I decided to wash it first and used hard bristle brushes, old tooth brushes , etc. I also soaked some rocks in vinegar and such to try and dissolve certain minerals. While scrubbing this Rock, I had a chunk of hard dirt fall out and there was a THUMB SIZED GOLD NUGGET PROTRUDING FROM THE ROCK. Another Rock had a long Vein of SILVER with Many Branches t TRAVELING throughout the Rock. Another Rock, once cleaned , turned out to be a Beautiful Emerald Green Jade AND it has a Nice pinkie tip, sized GOLD Nugget protruding from the center. My friend says that's pretty rare and to leave the Gold in the Jade. I was told there are ways to see how much Gold is in the Jade Piece and that will increase the Value. People collect Rocks and such, not only for the Weight or Rarity of the Stone, but also The Asthetic Appear of the Piece. A Friend found a Gold Nugget that was Bigger than My Hand and at Weight it is Worth$ 75,000. But because of Its Size and Unique Appearance, He Believes it will sell for closer to$ 100,000. So My collection is Solely from the yards of Friends, walks around town, etc.... But I have found quite a bit of Gold and a few other Metals, Geodes, a Tiny Meteor, and more.. It is Getting Really Exciting now that Spring is here and We are going through The Rock Garden. Now I may not have to take on Investors for My New Project. They always end up with the Lions Share and I end up with a large advance and a percentage. Now I'm not pressed with a Neverending Medical Emergency, so I can bring out My Great Creations instead of just basic things to get through.. All because Rocks Laying Around...

Once I paid for some potstickers at a Chinese takeaway, and the clerk owed me about $1.50 in change. He was out of bills, so he broke open a roll of dimes from the bank and gave me fifteen of them. At least five of the dimes were silver, from the 40's and 50's.

We had 5 rolls of dimes from the bank that were all old silver dimes in each roll at a place I worked at years ago so a few of us bought the rolls from there and kept them. Then someone had to go back to the bank and get more dimes cause that was all the dime rolls the store had 😂, but we knew better then to let that opportunity slip away.

Electricity is one of the biggest profit makers on the planet. I can not believe governments are trying to force people to switch to electricity to power a vehicle. The range is low, the charge time is slow, the price per charge is much higher than that of petrol. I have a nice HO train set. Just playing with it for a week makes the bill jump about $45. Imagine charging a slow, high current, battery that requires a lot of current to charge or a lot of time. Either way, you are screwed with the cost, range, down time, and nonlinear power. Work has an electric fork lift for a test drive for a month. Nobody wants to use it because of the nonlinear power, really short work time until it needs a charge, and how long it takes to charge. $49,000 for an inferior product when the propane forklift, just a few years old, cost $15,000 is unconscionable. A new propane forklift would cost $31,000. I have noticed this same pricing trend with electric cars. They are incredibly more expensive, have nonlinear power, slow charge times or high current charge, and low range. Sales has an electric car. It seems to be avoided a lot. I will ask them what they think.
@barryhessel60782 жыл бұрын
@@indridcold8433 And another thing is we are going to have to build more power plants to charge all those cars. Maybe coal plants.
@indridcold84332 жыл бұрын
@@barryhessel6078 Coal is the primary fuel for power plants. We get trains that are miles long coming into our local plant, weekly. I hate when they have to switch rails to unload and they are pulled out, then the track is switched and then the train reverses back in again. There is no possible way an electric car is any better for thx environment than a petrol car, or a diesel car. If anything, if is far more destructive.

There's no way an 1894 S Barber dime is floating around in circulation. The different design alone would have the average Joe put it away for safe keeping. That's not putting into account other things that would make people that don't know anything about coins want it, the fact it's from the 1800's, it's silver content, etc.

When she had her drawer open, I saw old silver quarters, and asked to have THOSE as my change back. They were Liberty quarters from the 1920s but well worn. A few years later, silver went way up and I sold them to a coin dealer for $10 each.

I am in the hobby of coin collecting, and I just wanna say that it is true that these coins are worth that much, however even a not rare one you have a VERY low percent chance to find. They aren’t truly in circulation anymore. And you definitely won’t find one before the 1900’s. You would have to go to a reputable coin shop and buy a very old roll which will cost you way more than the face value of the roll. And also all the other coins they were showing in the vid were either foreign coins or regular dimes. However, you may still find a dime or a quarter the is 1964 or older. If you find one of those you’ll make a few bucks because it is silver. Hang to the silver coins. You can make probably 15 times face value of a dime!

Sadly though there was a bar in Ithaca NY that used to have a a "drink special" on Tuesday nights known to the locals as "Dimies Night". The way the special worked was you would pay a dollar and then would like up 10 of the BIGGER SIZED Dixie style cups (I think they were like 10 ounces, instead of the normal 5) and pour you ten beers in them!! Needless to say a lot of folks would hit this tiny bar and Dimies were a HUGE success for a long time, because by the time you spent $20 (US) you'd be pretty messed up anyhow!! LOL And if you had a dime or a pocket full of dimes....as you can guess, even then you could STILL get a beer for a Dime!!!

Like he gave 7dimes each to 3 of his friends and then 3 to his daughter? And if she ONLY SPENT ONE DIME on ice cream then wouldn't she still have TWO left? And if one friend also only spent one of his seven then he would still have six remaining? AM I FOLLOWING THIS CORRECTLY? 3 friends got 7 special dimes each? Correct? Then the last remaining 3 he gave to his daughter? Correct? Cause that is not how the story is told but I am gonna assume by my problem solving and math skills that IS WHAT WAS MEANT? It's probably sitting in someones change basket and will never know it, then it will be put into a coinstar machine, I wonder if Coinstar has a device or humans to check for currency that's of a certain age, like 100+ years old, then have them set aside to be manually checked. There has to be a way to make a machine that checks for that.
@thenewstuff33775 жыл бұрын
Here's a little tip. There ARE coin counting machines that discard the old and damaged coins. They are out there but you have to look for them. Then you have to look at the coins. That means getting permission. And getting to them before other people or the truck. They have been an invaluable source for me to find wheat pennies, silver money, and old hard to find coins. Good luck.

The condition of the dimes matters greatly. ALL dimes minted prior to 1965 are silver and thus are worth keeping to some extent. One is not likely to find old coins in circulation that look as nice as these examples.

1838 Liberty Capped Dimes, Quarters, and Half Dollars are the only year with a mint mark O, which is in New Orleans. For 1839, there are new design that changed for Half Dime (Nickel), Dime, Quarter, and Half Dollar and they are Seated Liberty, and they make them in Philadelphia (no mint mark), and New Orleans (mint mark O). For 1864, Indian Head Penny does have a mint mark L as the only year that have this feature.

@danielorr71245 жыл бұрын
@@LarryFarlow I've found a few pre-1965 silver dimes in my change back in the 1990's and also two or three 40% silver nickels from World War 2.
