Saw this movie and left the theatre exhausted. Very realistic as to what exorcists reveal that they experience during an exorcism. I was terrified when Jorden invited the devil in-- how dangerous especially if it was a really possessed person. Said the St. Michael prayer when leaving.

I learned today on another commentary that the reason the rating was placed as aR rated movie was to discourage pastors and Christians from attending bc it would impact them in spiritual warfare in a way that would take out strongholds. The majority of churches never approach the idea of possession or need for deliverance. I had my pastor as a new Christian tell me when I pleaded for help regarding the demonic activity in my own life that he doesn't want to attract demons or give them too much recognition because it would Trump up their attacks. REALLY? How do you fight an enemy if you don't try to know his strategies? Anyway it cost 14 years of my walk with the Lord down the road and it could have been entirely different had I learned spiritual warfare and the authority Jesus gave me at salvation. I'm gonna write a book. This stuff is more real than our understanding of our physical reality. Better know which kingdom you stand in bc it matters. And BTW there's only 2 kingdoms. One is God's and the other is Satan's. No Grey areas or nuteral ground of man's. Secularism is in Satan's kingdom. Not just an opinion. I lived it and God's word tells it like it is. Can't wait to see this movie!

This is a really good intense film. It may have not been based on a true story, but a lot of true stories go the way this film went. People don't realize how the devil works, and I can't think of another film that explains it better than this one. People forget about the devil's existence, until they don't believe in it all together. Well, stuff like this is what happens. A lot of people tormented and passing as schizophrenic and, bipolar, and no one thinks about the possibility of possession, or oppression.

Hey there, Jordan. Good commentary, man! For me, working on this piece was an extraordinary experience. The cast and crew that I worked with were exemplary. Doing the scene with you and Sean was literally spine tingling for me. Now, as you know, I"m a secularist, so please do not take offense at this comment. It's not meant to be inflammatory or combative in the least! I over-stress this, because I want to be very clear that I will not judge anyone's belief system. For me the film was a debate, and it was very effective in that regard. I was relieved there were no clever CGI moments. It was all driven by the conversation between these two men. Whether or not Edward was faking his 'split' or not is irrelevant. The doctor was a by-the-book shrink, or so he portrayed himself to be, which is monumentally ironic, as there are no constants in psychology. He was constantly trying very hard to fit Edward into some template, and that made me smile. As it progressed, Edward chipped away at the doctor's templates until the doctor was malleable as putty. It reminded me of how cults break down the personality of the incumbents, so they can be molded into whatever shape the cult leader wants. This is very close to what happens in this film. Edward was in control throughout, even when he was pretending to be weak and frightened. It was a remarkable manipulation on Edward's part. Brilliant. He had the 'Marlin' Doctor on his hook. He would pull & let it go slack, pull again, then give it more slack. You knew he was going to land that Marlin. I'm a secularist, so I viewed this piece through a humanist lens obviously, and it didn't disappoint me at all. What consistently irritates me is the knee jerk reaction by many who view out-of-the-ordinary events to go to the act-of-God or act-of-Satan notions. We know so very little about the depth and breadth of human consciousness, what it's capable of. It's consistently denigrated. Now, I am not one of those secularists who froth at the mouth at a mere mention of a deity. I have Christian friends and we have many fascinating discussions, even debates at times, but very few, because there's no crossover from a logic based system to a faith based system. I loved this film for how it revealed the evil-place in the doctor, and by evil-place I mean how rigid his belief system was and how breakable it is, how easy it was for him to be re-molded by genuine nihilism/Edward. I'm equating the evil-place with flimsiness, with genuine weakness, with a system that cannot stand on its own in a real storm but collapses at once, and becomes a fertile petrie dish for active evil, i.e., acts of destruction for destruction' sake. I'm not thinking in terms of angels, devils, God or Satan. My appreciation of this film is firmly grounded on earth and human consciousness.

But some priests/ministers don't go that far, don't have that knowledge or that calling. Liked the movie but hard to watch the interview with the soft porn image in backround of interviewer. Is that a satanic ploy...objectify women...part of the plan. I am sure its intentional. Lord have Mercy.

At first I thought the same, but he's a young guy. The fact that he appreciates the beautiful art the actor has in his home; maybe he'll follow suit. Some people don't have the grace, knowledge or upbringing some have to discern things, but in time, they may pick up on it, so please, people, don't be too hasty on putting him down.

Always read the book or see the movie before you do interviews like this. How disrespectful to your guest. Jordan, may I say, you played a brilliant role. Everyone on the planet needs to see this movie. And well done to Steven Deace for writing the movie.

I wish people could acknowledge there's a gray area. Not every one is an angel or demon, or on the side of God or the Devil. You don't live your life either pure or debaucherous. These kind of movies perpetuate this really unrealistic black vs. white thinking. Good movie but we all are dark and light inside.
