but my closet is so clean and organized and really ridiculously aesthetically pleasing

VR will live and die by its killer apps. There hasn't been one yet. Maybe there won't ever be. All the main players have taken their shot at what they think people want out of VR, but none have been bigger than niche. How big is the barrier to entry for indie VR developers? The only reason indie developers can survive is that there is just such a huge population of people who own and regularly use computers or smart phones. You can make something relatively cheaply, and offer it for free and have a reasonable expectation that it can be discovered by millions of people overnight. VR is the opposite of both of those realities.

VR feels like gimmicky shooters, or gimmicky slashers, or a bunch of mobile games. About the only thing I've found VR good for as a user is for enhancing certain non-VR games like flight sim.

Great points! I've only thought about it in terms of getting VR into the hands (and eyeballs) of the average person. I hadn't even considered the high bar to even make a VR game.
