Nara is a summary of Japan!! A Place ypu must visit!
When we think of Nara we think of deer, but make no mistake!
The ancient capital of Japan located in the Yamato plain is a great stopover less than an hour from Osaka and Kyoto. It is most often visited for its free-roaming deer which delight tourists, and for its colossal statue of the Big Buddha.
But to limit ourselves to that would be a shame because Nara deserves time, more than a half-day express return trip.
Nara, which was the capital of Japan 1,300 years ago, boasts magnificent wooden buildings, the largest bronze Buddha statue in Asia, one of the most important shrines in Japan, and also several national treasures kept at the museum including ancient Buddhist statues
We also eat very well there (white miso!!)
