Unfortunately you can never out exercise a poor diet. If you’re drinking alcohol regularly, eating fried foods, sugar etc. it’s impossible to stay healthy long term. That said, anything can happen and any time and nothing is guaranteed. people should make their own decisions and live with the results.

We did our kitchen using cabinets from Home Pro .. I had them alter/customize a few so I can lay it out " Farlang" style granite tops and a wine cooler, propane gas bottle outside to supply the full size oven/stove complete with vented range hood..even went as far as to get a faucet that delivers straight tap water and filtered water (hidden in a base cabinet ) so I did not have to put in a seperate faucet for the filter unit .. all done in under a month.. also skipped an island made from cabinets and bought a heavy table from Dan Sing Khon we use as an island took 6 people to carry it in.. kitchen is 56 sq meters (20'x30') 6' sliding door to outside, 20' of window on a long wall and glass block windos on both short sides

Impressive design he gave you. What I normally want in my kitchen is a drainage area next to the sink where wet pieces can dry. I would not like to do this on the black top even when I would buy from the shop some plastic trays for that purpose. As you live in a town, you may have less ant infestations. We are more rural, so these Ikea type cabinets standing on the ground with the plate on the front would not be ideal. In my last kitchen I build in Germany (Ikea) I used their stainless steel feet and no front plate, so that I could check. Yes, it means a little more cleaning work but you have control about ants - can use the chalk to stop them going up the cabinets.

Yes…, take the buffer and strip the tiles… then apply a seal coat on the tiles…. Makes the tiles very shiny on top… but very easy to clean…dirt won’t penetrate the tiles after you seal them…
@SeanHendy
@SeanHendy Ай бұрын
Chuck, regarding the flooring, I just happened to work for an industrial cleaning company supplier a few decades ago. So, it looks like either vinyl or lino flooring. From new there is no finish to it usually, so after a cleaning to remove any dust etc, the floors are sealed with a metal polish. This takes skill to make sure that it is even and there aren't any streaks. This adds a thin protective hard layer on top of the floor. Then, (weekly) maintenance is to use a rotary machine which I think you mentioned. Lots of different names, bumper, buffer, etc, but a scrubbing brush attachment would be for really dirty floors, the pads, are then for normal cleaning and polishing. The colour of the pads denotes the abrasiveness, usually the darker the colour the more abrasive the pad, so a blue is medium, a black is hard, and these can be used with normal detergent solution in a spray bottle (a little goes a long way), to 'clean' the floor. Spray the detergent in medium spray, and use the machine over the damp part of the floor. The pad shouldn't get 'wet', the pad should hold the dirt. The pads can be cleaned in a washing machine. The final process is to polish the now clean floor, using a light pad, usually white in colour, and using a spray bottle with a different solution to give it a shiny appearance, but non slip. If a protective layer has been put on the floor, which it looks like, it is quite rare that you would ever need to strip it all back and start again. Removing it would require specific chemicals and it is quite a process, usually done by professionals.
@SeanHendy
@SeanHendy Ай бұрын
Btw, you definitely don't want to put epoxy on top of lino. Lino is flexible and moves, epoxy is hard, and it will crack and lift off over time.
@RussdeClanGunn

FYI That is a what we call a Terrazzo floor in the USA it has brass divider strips. It can be resurfaced using the same grinding method used to finish it when it was built. It is essentially a poured in place rock aggerate similar to concrete that is ground flat and polished with diamond finishing equipment. The poured nature of it is seen at time 39:40. Although it can be resurfaced, making an exact match to a damaged or missing area (such as under the existing cabinets) would be very difficult, fortunately the use of the divider strips allows a patch or extension to be incorporated into the design. In Chucks case, the floor is already two-tone so if modifications are necessary a close match can be used provided the patched area is not physically too close to the older areas that are slightly different. It is also possible to use a different color, hue or texture in patched areas. The sealer used on Terrazzo greatly affects how slick it is. This flooring is rarely seen in residential housing in the US because the labor to install it drives the initial cost up. I suspect the lower labor cost and long game attitude towards the family home make it a good choice for Thailand. I think Chuck or his contractor will be able to find someone very knowledgeable regarding the options for this floor.
@SeanHendy
@SeanHendy Ай бұрын
@@RussdeClanGunn if that is terrazzo then it's the most over engineered floor for a domestic home I've ever seen. Terrazzo tiles maybe, but not poured, and in that intricate a design. Who does that? Difficult to tell from video, looked like lino/vinyl, but in person, you'd be able to tell in an instant.
@LarryFournillier
@LarryFournillier Ай бұрын
@@SeanHendy it's a Terrazzo flooring! I have the same type of floor in my home here in Trinidad and Tobago. As a matter of fact, most older homes in the Caribbean and especially here in Trinidad, have that type of concrete flooring. It feels cool to one's bare feet when walked on, a great relief, especially with the Tropical heat. In Trinidad and Tobago, it was a very popular flooring choice, for those who could afford it, with homes built or renovated in the 70's and 80's. With the advent of the new concrete and stone flooring tiles, all newly built homes and renovations here use the new flooring option.

Hey Chuck & Paige! Good decision to always to keep an "eye" on things. Exactly! It's the reason I'm coming to Thailand in October from the U.S. So true Chuck, as long as it makes sense for you. I take your comments constructively and not as complaints. In my own situation, am respectful towards others but do not let them influence my decision making. Remain who you are, am a staunch supporter and not afraid to say so! Have enjoyed all your videos and their content. Truly considering splitting time between the States & Thailand. Like having the more practical, logistical accessibility of visiting other SE Asian countries. You're on the right path, don't change who you are! I like your "buddy", the vendor. Will pay him a visit and patronize his business. I am always putting myself "last" too with my wife, children and "friends". In agreement with my Mom's wishes, reconsidered and limit myself to "true" friends. Had to cut up my lifetime membership card in the Nice Guys club. Hahahahahahaha! You're one of the nice guys too. As I follow along with your video, respond to your comments to minimize "senior moments". It feels like I'm there in conversation with you. Thus, the lengthy comments from me. Hope you don't mind, if you do I will stop. Appreciate your proactive and organized approach with your project. It's around the 40-minute mark on your video. Will close with this: enjoyed this video immensely, good fortune, health to everyone in your extended Thai family

I'm a kitchen designer, your designs look good but watch the placement of that micro. The standard micro has left side hinge. If you have in far right corner, it will be hassle opening the door and gaining access. You basically need to stand freely directly in front of right of a micro with side opening door. Micro could fit on left of fridge or on hotplate hob wall. It also looks like he doesn't want to do corner overhead cabinets. Slightly more difficult than what he designed with separate single overheads which are simple.

Greeting from Wahoo, NE U.S.A. Have you thought about installing a solar power aircon unit. They are making 49V DC units which run directly (maybe) off of a solar panels. Avoid converters which waste power in the form of heat. It would be interesting to hear what one of these system cost in Thailand. You only need airs conditions when the sun is shining so this would be an off set for the heat buildup during cooking. Just have the unit blow cold air where Mafia is doing most of her cooking.

I run 3 to 5K once or twice a week, swim nearly every day, gym once a week, walk as much as I can. In fact it’s become my main life purpose, as I want to see my grandchildren and family grow older and impart my wisdom. Have to visit my home country at least twice a year. For me it’s important.
