Alice and Josh react to Motionless in White for the first time. Are they a good blend of a their very obvious inspirations or are they a just an Impostor??
Who do you agree with more Josh or Alice?

I know you guys aren’t really sold on them, so, personally, this is what I’d recommend to people who are just getting into MIW. Because I know their look and sound is influenced by a lot of other artists, BUT, they genuinely are an extremely unique and talented band. Similar to INK, there are songs that sound completely different and there’s a song for everybody. I don’t think this song was for you guys. Here are some songs I personally would recommend you should listen to: Immaculate Misconception, Reincarnate, Thoughts and Prayers, Soft, Another Life, Undead Ahead 2, and Dead As Fuck. 😊

@@ArsenicAndEspressoPodcast Yessss please do. They’re one of my favorites. Disguise doesn’t really showcase what they’re capable of. Out of my list, I’d say do Reincarnate. next. It’s a staple in the bands career/history, and I think you guys would enjoy it a lot more than this one. It does have influences but they’ve kind of perfected their sound and really molded it into their own. 🙂

I agree that most of the music is sellout-y. The reason I wouldnt consider them a sell out is they have made this exact style of music from the get go. They didnt start as a black metal band and then convert to this.

So Chris the lead vocalist did bring the band to where they are now, he’s spent the last decade growing the band to lean into their influences. He’s said in the past that these elements where not as prominent in their older more metalcore stuff when older members did not give with it, but from their second record onwards he became the primary song writer and worked with producer that saw what he wanted to do and helped him expand on it. This worked for their second and third and fourth records and on this one their guitarists where more involved as they have been the longest standing members other than him who see the vision he has. I’d also just like to say that I’ve been a fan since they were touring on their eps. Chris has always loved all these styles of music and just wants to be proud of what he’s doing, it just so happens that after 2012s infamous record, suddenly all the metalcore bands wanted to be “dark” and throw in the nu Metal vibes, but MIW got so much shit from fans and critics when that album dropped and rather than back peddling they leaned into it further, got smart fast and really worked on crafting which is where reincarnate came from. Definitely give multiple tracks a listen, there is sometimes for everyone 🖤

See the problem with the recommended song Reincarnate is that it still has that "Marilyn Manson" style vocals. (slow, deep, slightly muffled and echoey if you understand what i mean). Same as Disguise tbh. Don't get me wrong, they are both great songs, but i have a feeling this is why people think MIW are "copying styles". I agree with Coffin Party below. Thoughts and Prayers, Soft and Immaculate Misconception. The whole Creatures album is insane tbh. It's their original sound which has now evolved into a different sound with hints of this album. Personally I still think Abigail is their best with Immaculate Misconception a close second. I'm sorry you were disappointed :(

Good Dirties... :) Not to get hung up on terms and definitions and all that but as your fan base gets bigger it will but a lot of people. haha. Basic name for clean singing vocals are clean vocals like you are saying. unclean vocals or screams are usually separated as either Fry vocals if it is like Chester Bennington- ish from Linkin Park. or Gutterals that are more popular in Black metal then last major group is False cord screams which are usually lower like Chelsea Grin. :)

I will say I've been a fan of MIW since Creatures came out and I've seen their looks and music evolve over time. The singer, Chris Motionless, has stated in several interviews that he is heavily influenced by Marilyn Manson, Bleeding Through, etc and I think he wanted to show his appreciation for it. The albums before Disguise are so much better in my opinion because they had more of their own style. I will also say even though I'm a longtime fan, Disguise is not their best album. This album is good for new fans of the band since it's heavy but not heavy to the point their older albums scared people away, but it's not their best even though the songs are heavy, they aren't as satisfyingly heavy as their past songs/albums. I definitely recommend their albums Reincarnate, Infamous, and Creatures as they are my favorite albums and the best in my opinion. I appreciate how polite you guys were about your opinions!! PSA: for my MIW fans, please don't send hate to this lovely couple. They have the rights to their opinions. Not everyone is going to like the group just because we do, but we can offer other songs or albums that may be up their alleyway. Be nice to each other everyone.

I agree with you both to an extent tbh. I didn’t really notice the breaking Benjamin-ness until I heard this song for the first time just now in your reaction and you brought it up. I’ve literally only heard two of their songs and I can only remember the name of one and that’s “Voices”. It has less of the breaking Benjamin feel but the singer looks exactly like Marilyn Manson which I always felt was cliche in the first place.

Subbed. They used to be more of a mix between Marilyn Manson and Bleeding Through (Chris is a big BT fan and did a song w/Brandan). It was a little more interesting then, although I agree that it's a nice, heavier butt rock now. You should check out Abigail based on The Crucible. One of my favs.

Came here after watching you guys for the first time earlier with the Cradle of Filth video. Enjoyed your takes, this is probably the second time I’ve listened to MiW. All I could think while listening to it was that I would rather pull out some 90’s Marilyn Manson, Orgy, or Coal Chamber because it didn’t sound particularly distinctive in any way. It didn’t suck, but it’s not special. I wouldn’t cringe at anyone liking it, and it were playing somewhere I wouldn’t be racing to shut it off. At the end of the day, though, it feels beyond “influenced by” more distinctive and trailblazing bands and into a skillful paint-by-numbers.

I have some band/song recommendations if that’s ok. For metalcore one of my favorites are Bury Tomorrow. I suggest Black Flame or Dark, Infinite as song choices. Also for October and just because I think you would like them I also recommend Avatar. Songs that you might check out; Hail The Apocalypse, Bloody Angel, Night Never Ending or When The Snow Lies Red. For folk I suggest Eluveitie and their song Rebirth to start off, it’s a good jump off point Lastly also check out Unleash The Archers - Awakening as a start. Thanks for all the hours of entertainment you’ve given me and I hope that your channel gets huge because you deserve it

Could you react to "570" and "Immaculate Misconception" by Motionless In White?
@RunawayIceIX
@RunawayIceIX 3 жыл бұрын
Happy that you guys react to MiW but I gotta say when this song came out, I was a little disappointed. I prefer their two albums before 'Disguise'. They are called 'Reincarnate' and 'Graveyard Shift'. I think they got more of an industrial sound. My absolutely favorite song by them is 'Rats'! I really love that song. Throughout their journey they have shown a lot of different styles. Their old stuff is a lot heavier. I think this was just the wrong song to start with. In case you want to give them another chance you should listen to 'Reincarnate' or 'Necessary Evil'. Also the band is not 'made'. They talked a lot about the history of the band in their 'Musicians Institute' interview. But great reaction as always. Love the honesty :D In case you did not notice, you saw the bassist before. It is the former bassist of Ice Nine Kills. He was in all videos except 'IT Is The End'.

Now I'm not an expert *yes reasonable fanboy alert 🚨* Though I can get where she is coming from but I know about MIW and Chris (not personally hence "not an expert" disclaimer") enough to know that cherry picking doesn't sound like them. I see what you mean but I truly don't believe Chris, Ricky or the rest of MIW would just look at the successful side of things and go shopping. They do have a lot of influences some being Korn, Misfits, Metallica & Eminem are a few. However they may have listened to songs and taking a liking to particular sounds and formulated their own blend I believe that to be more actual. I'm going to give Espresso?? Woman here ^ (with the cool hair & makeup) a pass and allow her opinion, respect it but disagree and thinks that she's going to be missing out!!

This is a bad intro song. The Marilyn Manson/Industrial influence is strong but you can’t just go straight to Manson-esque stuff. Reincarnate, Eternally Yours, Abigail, Undead Ahead 2, Immaculate Misconception, Creatures X: To the Grave, Puppets, and Scissorhands are better intro songs to MIW. The Manson influence deterred me at first but once you find the one that earworms and you can’t stop singing it, you realize how catchy and well written their stuff is. Another Life, even though it’s generic butt Rock octane music at its core, is an incredible and beautiful song, and one of my favorites, and if I had heard it as my first listen to them, it probably wouldn’t have done much for me
