ging at most wanted to have gon enjoy his game and meet his friend. that was greed island and kite. after hearing what happened to gon and then the election being called he just used complex deduction and prediction skills based off everyone's personalities. gon just happened to be in the calculations. ging has not once used gon. greed island was for gon to have fun. he literally made a hunter game for his son. sending him to kite lets him meet his pupil and gain experience as a hunter with someone he trusts and calls a friend. here he has 100% faith that gon will survive as he knows powers exist in this world that can make the impossible possible. he also most likely knows about alluka's powers and that killua being such a close trusting and loyal friend would use her power to heal gon. and again gon being healed would change the outcome of the election due to his prediction of gon being healed and the location of leoreo. also one thing a lot of people don't get is the fact that ging and gon do not see each other as father and son. it is why gon does not hate gins. to them they are just 2 hunters that have no important bond other than sharing blood. they are more like colleagues.
