Nigeria's most significant challenge is the pervasive corruption and lack of political will, which has far-reaching consequences. One manifestation of this is the struggle faced by many Nigerians, particularly those in the diaspora, who are interested in farming but find it difficult to access land. The challenge of acquiring land is a major obstacle that prevents them from realizing their agricultural goals and contributing to the country's economic development. To address this, urgent measures are required from all levels of government and the private sector to pursue aggressive investments in manufacturing and agriculture in every local area. Specifically, Nigeria must consider banning the importation of manufactured food and consumer goods, such as diapers, toothpaste, soap, cosmetics, toilet paper, and other similar products, within the next year. This bold move will allow local manufacturers to take over and drive economic growth. I acknowledge that this will be a tough and hard decision, but it is a necessary sacrifice to revamp and save our country. We must take decisive action to stimulate local production, create jobs, and promote economic self-sufficiency.

NO, export out of the continent is not necessary but manufacturing is and trade on the continent is. However , exporting out of the continent is a an extra. Africa must manufacture and industrialize but without stability AT HOME .. it leaves the continent vulnerable. Africa must learn from the past that (first) the world hates us simply because of the color of our skin and will never respect us until we take care of each other. meaning no hunger or homelessness. it's is useful to gain information and some technology from the outside but it must not be critical or indefinite.

During the political campaign, Mr Dangote kept quiet because he was favoured by the existing federal government policy as the monopolist in virtually all sectors. He is now crying out, organising conferences on manufacturing because he is not favoured bt APC government of Bola Tinubu. Seriously, they are all hypocrites. Dangote is talking about protection of industries but he pushes for Indigenous industries like Innoson Motors to be stiffled. He has not even mentioned the local motor manufacturers like Innoson, Nord motors and Proforce. He is talking about assembly plants because this is where he belongs.

There are realities for an emerging economy. You don't develop competition out of thin air. For any moribund place (capital, education, capacity inequalities), certain providers would be prioritized. For Nigeria, the option is a "monopolistic/duopolistic" domestic players OR foreign players. We seem to be comfortable with foreign monopoly and scream bloody murder for domestic companies with dominant market share. I grew up thinking of Leventis, Flour Mills and a number of other foreign companies as local companies. The one place Nigeria does not have issues is in Cement. That does not mean there haven't been some gray, particularly as concerns Ibeto cement etc., but what he is saying is exactly on point. By the way I say this as an Ijaw/Igbo man. At the end of the day, I'd prefer Dangote's flawed but productive industry to anything else that exists in Nigeria. He pays taxes and has gone on to invest in a refinery that can turn Nigeria's fortunes. I don't wrestle with greater regionalization but the reality is industrial regulation (import, tariffs, etc) needs to be standardized and reflect national policy. Regionalization should be in terms of supporting industries in their natural habitat. So for instance, support grantite/stone quarry manufacturing in South East.
