I swear the high school orchestral band in the background sped up the tempo. Some of the other versions of this were 5-7 minutes long, but this one is only 4min 47sec. Couldn't they just record the studio version?

the band is just bad. i played the violin in the pit for my middle school's production of legally blonde, and i was able to play pretty much everything in the book.

My school did fine the years I was part of it and when we did this musical specifically - probably our best year. Of course the band is absolutely ridiculous in many parts here, especially with the tempo at the start. But I can absolutely tell you that the tempo is mostly the conductor's job, and sometimes they think they are going too slow for the band, or sometimes they go unbelievably slow afraid of being too fast. Also, if the drummer becomes too ancy at the start of a song, the tempo will be fucked until the conductor gets them to slow down. But of course, this music isn't that difficult for anyone that has been playing their instrument for at least a couple of years, and if they haven't rehearsed and practiced that's on them.

Either way that's not usual. People aren't very much complaining than they are making note of it. Usually for time constraints you cut songs or dialogue, spreading up the tempo of the song is just all around an odd choice. Also considering it was only the first chunk it's just.. out of place?
