Woaw, this takes me straight back to 1987. Never knew this song was so well memorized, hidden in my brain somewhere. Saw 'Starlight Express' in London🇬🇧 while on a highschool trip from The Netherlands 🇳🇱. Sad that there is no known recording of this particular show that 'The Show Must Go On' could share with the world.

If anyone ever scrapes up the millions required for a proshot, it will firstly be sold by Bluray/dvd. It would not be shown on pay per view for quite some time. Judging by the age of the programmes so far shown here, expect it on this channel around 10 years after filming.

How many times can I, and others, say this? There is no filmed version of this show as it would be impossible. All the skaters used to come up into the dress and upper circles during the races on the huge tracks that were a permanent fixture at London Victoria Apollo. This was all ripped out when the show closed. There is a special building in Germany erected just for this show which is permanent and as near to the original skating as you will find. It’s the songs and characters that have changed over time that also ruin this show now. Original is best but people forget that.

There's no professionally recorded version of this show and considering theaters are closed until January I doubt there will be one any time soon.

This musical is so good and the first London show I saw- nowhere near as good on touring shows now as all changed- no pun intended for Starlight fans!! London Victoria Apollo was THE venue to see this in its original format. Ray Shell smacked my hand as he skated past on the front of the dress circle, as did Greaseball!! Such an original, exciting show with out of this world skating, gymnastics, songs and theatre set up. Such a shame that it was never filmed. The new tour versions are nowhere near the original- new songs and characters added, old favourites removed, backstage pre filmed races instead of round the tracks up into the Gods of the theatre. Mind blowing.

I was in a roller skate dance program and we did Broadway one year and it was a SHAME that we did not do this as a closer. It could easily have been adapted to fit us and have been an amazing closing number for the advanced skaters. But sigh, instead we did a badly cut together version of all that jazz from Chicago.

I have watched the Bochum version five times already, and now hearing/seeing this in english... I get why people don't really like this show. Believe me guys, the one in Bochum is amazing. The costumes, the stages, the special effects... it's crazy!
