Freelee 2.0? Her name is Paige Shay. She’s thin like Freelee, blonde like Freelee, and eats freelee’s “raw till 4” diet: fruit for breakfast, fruit for lunch, and potatoes and lettuce for dinner.
But after watching literally HUNDREDS of Paige’s tiktoks, I’ve found some pretty major differences between the two fruit ladies.

Well eating unbalanced expensive diets that take a lot of effort is an amazing way to get that. Someone making themselves a spokesperson for a particular community or lifestyle while going about it in the most high maintenance way possible is just not good for those communities and lifestyles. It's more likely that they will give themselves burnout and just give up entirely while also being someone who people pay attention to and listen to. It does matter HOW someone goes about this.

The one thing I agree with them on is in their "fat era" delusion. When you go from 110 pounds and super ripped to 120 and "soft" it feels like the world of a difference. But ofc is not fat by any means.
@kimberlycaritas

This is really true. I've always been on the higher-metabolism side, but I dropped down to around 110 after I got very sick for a few months-going from 110 back up to a healthier 120, even without being ripped at either point, felt really drastic. I found myself thinking, "hmm, I'm looking a little out of shape"-but I really wasn't! It was just a weird mind game I had to talk myself out of.

Raw as well as carnivore (ugh) people are quick to say they cant digest grains but grains vary a LOT. As someone who has true difficulties with digestion due to surgery, it took me forever to learn this. Many grains (and nuts) contain fructans and GOS, the same hard to digest carbohydrates found in beans, BUT there are also grains low in this and so well tolerated like quinoa and millet.
@MK_ULTRA420
@MK_ULTRA420 6 ай бұрын
Carnivore diet suggests fermenting all legumes and grains before consumption if there's no other available food, but idk any vegans who do this. Edible nuts and seeds should be fed to livestock for protein supplement; their oils can also be extracted and used for hair and skin if they're not toxic.
@blahblah6237
@blahblah6237 6 ай бұрын
yeah because fermenting neutralize the antinutrients. It is the “traditional” method of preparing grains that people forgot about. Nuts and seeds often also have a layer of antinutrients that bind to minerals in foods, making it hard for you to absorb minerals in your meal. For example, the brown skin on almonds. If you peel the almond and don’t eat the brown skin, you’d be better off

Muscle mass makes a HUGE difference to how many calories you burn. I weigh 128lbs, eat 2300-3000 calories a day, weight train 4 x per week, walk a whole lot and run once or twice a week. A lot of my metabolic rate comes from the muscle I have. THis is just my experience, not saying it's universal, but when you say she's eating a lot of calories and unsure how she could burn that much in a day - her muscle mass seems significant which would greatly increase her metabolic rate.
@missknight9
@missknight9 6 ай бұрын
While this is true, that number is much lower than people assume, especially for someone of her size. Genetics would have a more substantial impact on her metabolic rate
@gracekenyon5316
@gracekenyon5316 6 ай бұрын
@@missknight9 I appreciate your response; as I said I'm not claiming this to be everyone's experience, but it certainly it mine. I am small (relatively speaking), 24 yo female. All my family including parents are overweight or obese. Additionally, I believe a lot of the calorie-burning benefits of muscle mass come from the behavioural aspects that tend to come along when you have more muscle; a greater likelihood you'll have a higher NEAT, higher energy levels in general, better posture i.e. core muscle activation. I don't think it's as simple as being diluted down to time-restricted scientific studies ; time and time again we see people who are more physically active with higher muscle mass have much higher metabolisms than even the science might have us believe, not least due to behavioural reasons and other nuances.

Apart from certain medical conditions, low sodium intake, profuse sweating, and over consumption of water - low protein diets can contribute to low sodium levels. The body needs protein to retain sodium. So freelees no salt, low protein diet is dangerous for many reasons, but especially for those who struggle with hyponatremia

Some Scandinavian people, too -- whose ancient ancestors had lots of salt in their diet for thousands of years -- may thrive best on higher sodium diets, too. Whereas some people whose ancestors lived far inland, where salt was rare (as in some African countries) they DO need lower sodium diets to prevent high blood pressure. I know this isn't 100%, of course. But it's worth looking into where one's ancestors mostly lived, and whether salt was rare or ubiquitous there. . . sometimes we still carry our ancestral adaptations.

Most female athletes do not fall into this range. It is not a healthy place to stay at long term nor should it be something to aspire to.

@HanhNguyen-uk8bc cycles are regular and pms free, babe. Your understand of the world, believe it or not, isn't the only way the world works. Despite being 13%, I also do not have abs. Much to my disappointment, because this is the narrative in the weightlifting world. If have to get even lower, which is at that point not healthy.

@@kaylaharrop7639 Having defined abs really doesn't happen in healthy women. Even in men, it's not really a sign of physical fitness. It varies alot by genetics as to how visible your abs, even the structure of the muscles can be different, and really isn't a great sign of percentage of body fat.

Ironically, even though I look at these women with concern due to their diets, raw til 4 works amazingly for me.... Because of my intestinal issues, lol. I have IBS and celiac so eating mostly raw foods during the day and only eating cooked starchier foods once I'm home and can manage my symptoms easily has been great for my stomach. The main difference being I still incorporate a wide wide range of vegetables and fruits (well, the ones I tolerate at least) as well as sources of protein such as tofu or legumes (though those are not technically raw but you get me). I alao supplement b12, D, and iron principally. Anyway. Very random ramble. But I feel like the premise of this diet wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't mostly encouraged by people severely depriving themselves of nutrients :/

"The words “table salt” and “sodium” are often used interchangeably, but they do not mean the same thing. Table salt (also known by its chemical name, sodium chloride) is a crystal-like compound that is abundant in nature. Sodium is a mineral, and one of the chemical elements found in salt." Your body needs sodium (from vegetables like sweet potatoes, potatoes, beet roots,...) not table salt. PS : " I recommend you eat as much leafy greens like lettuce, baby spinach and rocket as you like. One head of lettuce each day is a good amount to aim for." (Freelee, The raw till 4 diet, page 78)

Durianrider on the other hand his protocols makes much more sense and pragmatic. b12 is available in a plant based diet from eating unpeeled (organic) potatoes, and other organic produce. the ultimate source of the b12 is bacterial whether the end consumer is getting it from eating plants or animals. a large portion of meat eaters are b12 dedicient, and everybody would be wise to plan their diet better to incorporate it. that can include a supplement, but doesnt have to.

Oof, that protein calculator. I've been calculating with 1 g/per kg of *ideal* bodyweight (not actual weight), so like 65 grams per day for a sedentary life. I was unemployed due to a car accident, so I spent most of my free time prepping and eating food. BUT I would be STARVING by night time even though I was physically full. I was definitely missing some stuff. It's just not sustainable at all.

Ugh. I used to be so obsessive. Now I just keep it simple. Oats, vegan protein powder, walnuts, chia, almond butter and blubs for breaky. Veg and rice or potatoes, beans and tofu with pumpkin seeds and 1 Brazil nut for lunch and something similar minus the Brazil nut for dinner. I have fruits and seaweed for snacks like apples and bananas or special things in the summer. I take a few supplements and bam. Vegan is actually very easy and affordable. I've been vegan since 2013 ❤ Ps: Obviously that's not 100% accurate every day of my life - I have variety but ya that's the basics. Easy. Life is not about having 100 of something for a meal. Balance people. It's SO simple.

I have been following Freelee before I started studying, I can't believe how her toxic diet choices have an affect on others. It just seems like a quick, trendy diet...that nobody should do without supplementing B-12, including that sodium, protiens are your friend, get those vitamins in, the main ones, and seeing your dietitan/doctor and making sure you aren''t hurting yourself in the long run. May be better just to be a normal vegan with lots of supplementing. 😅

I did the 80/10/10 vegan thing in my early 20s for maybe 6-8 months religiously. I looked and felt fantastic! But its SO difficult to maintain.. The cost and the cooking time alone made me stop. I still spend $250/mo more than I NEED to because we eat a lot of fresh raw veg/fruits and buy all organic. But, I am PRIVILEGED to be able to do that. A LOT of people flat out can't afford it. I will say during spring/summer/fall I rotate a 8 raised bed garden and grow most of the veggies we eat at home and it saves me SO much $$ Also, I am no dietician but I did work with one while I was pregnant and will say this. I developed diabetes while pregnant. I ate nothing but fruit until lunch and even then, 50% of my lunch was fruit. I was told I HAD to eat protein with my fruit because just fruit was spiking my insulin and it was dangerous. I was hospitalized at month 6 and they flat out cut me off from fruit in the hospital because my insulin levels were increasing. Now I'm 1.5yr postpartum, diabetes went away and I do eat fruit every morning. But now I will pair a heafty portion of fruit with some protein like literally a few bites of cheese/nut butter/yogurt/an egg. Just to avoid the sugar spike that 100% does happen.

Hi! I am normally not the person to comment on KZbin videos but I want to say thank you to your for your awesome videos and how they made a change on my whole opinion about foods. I was doing raw till 4 back and forth for the last couple years,never lost the weight but also had nasty binge attacks on evenings so probably that's why. I was also doing fully raw for several weeks but as soon as I found your videos I started to be more critiqual with this kind of lifestyle, started to write out lists about from where I get my calcium etc and I am way more consistent with my B12 now. What I want to say: now I still do raw till4 but I am way more sensitive about how to get all my nutritions, so I also eat nuts and seeds or homemade bars throughout the day and as soon as I started to implement more protein powder into my smoothies, I also felt way more satisfied for longer. So thanks that I can pick now exactly what's right for me instead of following a lifestyle blindly!
