I had to swallow a large pill and realize that my pain that I thought had no purpose existed for one purpose and one purpose only. He wanted me closer to him. To be reminded that I need him. Each time my foundations fell and I'm reminded that each time I failed it was I, alone, who said " I got this myself " and each time I'm reminded I do not have this all by myself. And I need him all the time

WRONG ... God is NOT using a little bit of pain. Stop 🛑 the Orwellian mindset (False obedience, instilling pain, inflicting pain, etc.) The church is inflicting pain for nothing. God is gracious and is asking for people to repent for His Grace and mercy are extended. The only pain that will be inflicted on you is HELL of you die in your sin.
