Hell yeah. At first I was really against new figs not based on anything from the show but I got this the other day and it’s actually a great set with tons of options. Mikey coming with 2 complete standard heads makes him a must own if you get the Pizza Club edition. Woulda been great if Donnie came with another head but there’s already a ton of stuff in the box.

So I was on the fence about getting these. On the fence? Why? I don't even go for the toon line. I'm into the Mirage TMNTs. Why was I was even considering these at all was not fully known to me... At first... Then I saw your review. I got these after seeing THIS review. Yours... I got them... Then... It hit me. Like the kids say these days now "right in the feels". I understood now why I needed these... I had these 2 as a kid of about 7-8 years old... Only Leo was the samurai and Raph was the space dude. I know this is long winded at this point... But... This samurai guy, but it was Leo in the Playmates line. These are remixes of those characters with even different turtles as these this time around. This guy, the samurai, was the "turning point" for me as a kid. My parents were buying him and I saw, and later at Christmas time, it was wrapped up under the tree. It was when I found out that Santa did not exist... I'm soo happy to have gotten these now. It upped the level for me...

The best thing about these two are they have no identifying marks as Donatello or Mikey so you can literally put any head on them and they look dope and cool samurai looks really good with Leo’s red eyes

😲 Now that you mention the "jet pack" was actually used in water, I think that might be based on the Sewer-Scuba Jet with Foot-Seeking Spear that came with the old Sewer Swimmin' Donatello figure! That one's cast in all blue, so I didn't recognize it until you mentioned that, but it's the same shape!

That same episode tends to show a lot of playmates stuff. Clearly they were going hard into merging the show and toys so you would want more. Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady are all riding the playmates vehicle that had snakes on the front of it

@@NostalgiaUnboxed Indeed. They loved doing that sort of thing in the 80's. One of my favorite "Hey kids! Buy my toy!" appearances was in one episode where April's lost in the sewers, and the Rat King pops up to show her the right way to go and that's the only part of the episode where we see him. It's really weird and out of character because he's still an enemy of the Turtles, and he wasn't mad at the Shredder or anything. There was no reason for him to help her at all. He just showed up. Almost like Playmates told them "Hey we're not selling enough Rat Kings. Do us a favor and throw him in an episode so kids will remember him."

Totally possible. Not as easy as the older sets though. I did this in my review (not edited yet). Be careful because the matte finish has bonded to the bandana like glue.

You say it doesn't credit the box artist. When you show Jason Yang's art at 1:34 it looks like the colored art is the same one they used for the box to me. They just cropped it. I don't know if you noticed that but just forgot to explain. Don't know why they aren't listed on the box though. Maybe it was an error, or maybe they thought since he was listed under 'designs' already they didn't need to credit twice.

Finally got my hands on this 2 pack..! and after opening it, I ran into the same problem that you had with the accessory weapons…..! So my solution to the problem was to use little bitty, black rubber bands, like the kind used for braces, but the black rubber bands I used were very small hair ties made for ponytails …..! There so microscopically tiny that they’re the same size as one of the black stencil lines on the figures. Buuuuut the tinsel strength on them is severely strong allowing you to get a good bit of play out of the elastic band before it will break.!!

10:55 I think Magic Eraser would clear those scuffs up. Haven't yet tried it on a Turtle head...but I'm totally sure it's fine lol. I recently used one of those things on a $600+ item 😬 (was so freaked out something bad would happen), and it cleared up the marks with no damage to the plastic.

@@KootenaiKing Well, I've used it more than a few times over the last decade or so, and never had any issues. It's not so much about chemicals in it, it's just the material the sponge is made of. You just wet it a little, but nothing is seeping out of it.

And because of the amount of all the different figures the main problem is SPACE. So I'm not gonna chase other tmnt versions, since I already have them on my display, and all accesories from other packs (like turtles in disguise or pizza club edition) I'm getting from Ebay. But this pack (due to unique body types) and punk set (because of the link to punks figures from the last year) are different. I've already got punk turtles 4 days ago and they looking good next to Bebop and Rocksteady's gang. But due to space limitations I only need Mikey from this set (to display him with the other Japanese figure). So it's hard to decide whether buy it now and then sell Donnie, or wait till a separate Mikey will appear on secondary market?

I don't remember that episode. It makes more sense that Leonardo is the Samurai. Not only does Leonardo have katana swords, he has the mentality of a Samurai. This feels like to me Neca just swapping out Leonardo and Raphael for Michealangello and Donatello. Bc Leonardo was the Samurai and Raphael was the astronaut in the playmates line. Personally I can't wait for Usagi Samurai.
