Scotty Kilmer Scott not sure my messages went through. Looking into buying mid 1980's celica gets. It was one of my favorite cars when I was younger. Sometimes it's nice to relive our youth. My question is. Are Parts hard to find for this car? How hard is it to work on this car it does not seem that hard? If using a mechanic is it more or less expensive? Scotty, I drive standard transmission Honda CR-V 2015 in Europe, in particular in Belgium. Yeah it's a bloody diesel 1.6 i-DTEC, my question is not about the engine that you probably never saw in the US, it's a general question: If we take all generations of Honda CR-V and all generations of Toyota RAV4, was Honda CR-V at any point of time better then the RAV4 ?

My 05 mini Cooper S was a blast on twisty roads. I've never owned a more fun car to drive. I also had a reduction pulley, CAI and Koni FSD gold shocks installed. This was the only car that made my chest ache when I sold it.

Despite having a repair quotes well over the value of the car and a cold start issue mini nor my mechanic could diagnose it was still a very sad day trading my ‘06 mcs on a new 16 wrx was a very sad day 😢. that car could still made me smile after a decade of ownership. (Well when it was working right I smiled). Wrx has been a much better car so far but not nearly as fun.

Scotty I have a 1999 Honda prelude and it has a idle problem, it revs up and down when the engine is cold, I checked the Idle Air Control Valve and it was clean, what could the problem be?

Great car, I love it. I have a Mini Cooper too but I’m glad we have the legendary vanos engines here in the uk not Chrysler. I had an original Mini as one of my first cars so I never really liked the “new” mini... until I bought one recently. Ive put over 10k on it in 6 months and the best things about are, 1) the way it handles/feels, 2) BMW design/build interior on a sub 2k car, 3) VANOS!!!!!!!

Very happy to see a Mini this week :) i love mini's to death. Unfortunately, i wasnt aware when i had mine that it was a bit higher maintanence than i was used to and the engine went bad at about 85k miles (which i hear is actually pretty good, shop said they usually see engine trouble starting at about 60k miles). But you can bet i wont forget that when i get my next one. Until then, im currently "restoring" a 2009 cobalt ss. 5 previous owners beat the heck out of this thing across several states before i got it for a steal at 124k miles. When im done with it, itll seem like it has at least half that mileage. Video coming as soon as i feel like she's ready.

My friend just bought an early 2010s Mini with moderately excessive miles for his wife. I avoided mentioning it for a few weeks until he brought it up with the "so what do you think" line. I told him I thought it would be a repair hog, and "what was he thinking". His reply: she thinks it's cute and she wanted one. I didn't mention that they are deeply in debt, and that she's a terrible driver, having wrecked every car she had for the last 20 years, the last being a BMW Z convertible in which she almost killed herself and daughter. The Mini has a terrible reputation for crash survival, so at 72 I expect to outlive her.

Sorry to say that mini is a ctually a very bad car the original minis made back in the UK in 1960s to the 1996 were mini coopers and mini clubmans they were the best cars you could get they were the toyota of that time but the these new type minis full of crap electronics that give trouble and headgaskets blow in them they really are just not making them like they use 2

Lol, my 2008 mini Clubman r56 non turbo motor, has 250,000 miles roughly. I use 0w-40 to compensate for all those wear clearances. And to eliminate valve lifter tick. She's running strong. Only replaced a leaking vacuum pump.

Hello Scotty, I have a 2003 Mini Cooper with a rebuilt transmission and it works fine but then I noticed that the needle was at hot on the thermometer and I continued to drive it but it never heated or smoked, but what I did notice was when the needle was on hot the car started to jerk a little what can it be ? Please help

Unreliable, high maintenance?? I own a 2005 that was brand new from the factory, first owner. Still have it. Probably the MOST reliable and maintenance free car I have ever owned. Maybe I was Lucky.

Same here. I ordered my 2005 Mini S Convertible the first day they were available. That was and of July and it finally came in November. I still have it and haven’t had any issues at all. Routines maintenance only-oil changes, servicing etc. I love my Mini! Best car ever.

Nice job on this Mini!- Mini's are very fun-I have owned 3. R60's if I remember. 2 new and the last (plug in hybrid) used. Always traded before warranty expired. They are quick and handle very well and made me smile every time I got in it. Very expensive to fix when the time comes. My last one was the plug in hybrid-What a piece of junk. Crappy mileage on battery or gas, kept throwing check engine codes and the dealer(s) couldn't figure out why. Eventually, they replaced the "regenerative charging system" on one (or both) of the back wheels. Out of curiosity I asked how much that would have costed me if the car wasn't under warranty. It was some ridiculous amount of money like $6 to $8 thousand dollars or higher-I don't remember exactly. I started planning my exit strategy right then and there and eventually traded it in for a 2020 Toyota Rav4 hybrid and I couldn't be happier. My RAV is worth almost $10K more now than when I bought it. Mini's were expensively fun while they lasted. Don't think I will ever buy Mini again.

Hey scotty, i have a toyota yaris in the middle east, it says in the owners manual to check the oil after warming up the engine to the operating temperature and then letting it sit for more than 5 minutes. Do you think i have to do that or check it when it's cold. Please help.

Check it when its cold generally, or a fair while after its been on, no real advantage to checking it when its just been running, especially if you're running thick oil its more likely to give an inaccurate measurement. Usually 5 minutes is just a guide minimum time for oil to re-enter the sump, the engine doesn't *need* to have just been on. You may want to check with Toyota forum tho....

@@al_saedi2109 Yeah im not a toyota engineer but logic dictates, especially if its a naturally aspirated, stock engine, theres no need to start ut beforehand. You can prove this to yourself by taking a measurement after starting and stopping, and after its been sat for a few hours....

The W11 engine is pretty bulletproof, actually.

The cast iron block is Tritec (co-operation between Chrysler and BMW-owned Rover). The supercharger is Eatons M45. The transmission is Getrag. Such are the cars of today - a collection of parts from different manufacturers. If you take off a part on the MINI, you will most often discover a "BMW" logo/stamp.

Actually, the R53 is pretty safe. It got 4 out of 5 starts on NHTSA crash tests. Lots of airbags etc. A MINI went off the road in a hurry by the gas station here, doing a number of barrel rolls and ending up in a tree. Out climbed three bewildered youngsters. The only thing broken was the driver's pride.
