Successfully summited Helvellyn yesterday using this guide (my first Wainwright 😊). Snow capped and an absolutely epic and beautiful journey to the top. Again keep doing what your doing Jason and thank you very much 👍👏 Please note also that there is now no pay and display machine at the Wytburn church carpark. We just put a note on the dashboard of our car to that affect.

That's amazing Glenn, thank you for watching! You might have a few more Wainwrights to have a look at now 😁

@@robinsonsrambles Haha, yes. Just another 213 to go 😅 but you've got to start somewhere and Helvellyn was a good choice with views of many other peaks including Scaffel Pike 🏔️. I did meet a very nice old man at the top of Helvellyn who told me he'd been climbing them since he was seven years old and he'd done all the Wainwright's three times over 😲. An inspiration 👏

Brilliant video. Would love to do this mountain. Might travel down next year from Scotland and give it a go.

We made the mistake of attempting striding edge, we turned back as it was very scary and wish we would have gone via this route instead. Great video!

Thanks for an excellent video. I used the route that you demonstrated in your video and reached the summit in 1 hour 50 minutes. Weather was great and views from the summit were amazing. Thanks again

Great video, we were up in the Lakes for a hike and last week and I know what you mean about it being a bit nippy. At least the views were good. I love that camera you use, I've started a channel recently and I just use a GoPro. That one looks really good though. Anyway, you have a new subscriber! All the best, Andy

Thanks Andy! GoPros are just getting better and better and the picture is just stunning, I've been tempted myself recently! I've been using the Insta360 X3, although the clarity of picture isn't as good, I do like the flexibility of it 😊 Welcome! I'll have a mooch on your channel 😁👍

Always take a photo of the car parking machine which say's " OUT OF ORDER " and date it before setting off on your walk. just in case and save it. I've been up Helevellyn so many times and each time it's stunning, just a stones throw from my front door. Longjohns i thought your name was Robinson. 🤣

Good tip Charles! Hey, I could be Long John Robinson....😂

Easiest way up is by the miners track from Glenridding, just a nice steady walk right up to the summit and not steep at all. you do NOT need to go on striding edge!
@robinsonsrambles7 ай бұрын
Agreed! I tip my cap to anyone who does Striding Edge- done it once and that was enough 😅

I climbed Helvellyn from Thirlmere when I was 11 years old. I can't recall it being much of a slog......but then KZbin didn't exist then..to make a drama of a straightforward walk.

It's much different when you're an out of shape 44 year old William! 😂😂 Hope you enjoyed it.

Abit of a snarky comment 😂😂

It's a bit of a slog up by the trees if you've any years in your legs, I think it has got steeper, but not much more than a stroll after that. The beauty of the Thirlmere side is the choice of routes. Note to beginners - ignore any guides which tell you airily that the edges are the way to go. Go up from Thirlmere and look at them from the top first and make your own decison. A devout coward I've always left them alone. The lovely ridge walk starting at Thirlspot and ending via Grisedale Tarn is an excellent all day alternative. (Check the bus timetable. I didn't once.)
