I often used the microscope when assisting special stick insects with hatching from their eggs. They would often have a leg stuck in the egg or be unable to fold out of it properly, so using the microscope helped a lot since the whole ordeal could be about a centimeter.

Sad to say this but the microscope is fake. The scroll wheel doesn't increase magnification instead it is used to focus on the object. It is just a business tactic to increase the number of buyers.

I bought something similar to thr phone screen magnifier a few months ago. On the plus side it was cheaper at about £6.00 and it was out together very sturdily. The fresnel lens slides out from the base and then tilts to the correct angle. On the minus side, it doesn't work very well. Thr image is enlarged but badly distorted. It certainly doesn't live up to the advertised crystal clear image. If it comes to a portable viewing experience i would use a tablet pc for watching a movie and keep the phone for making calls if you feel you needed that larger screen experience.

The microscope can magnify a lot more than that. It has a magnification dead zone, but if you keep turning the focus dial and it will come back into focus with significantly greater magnification.
