As an elder trans woman who lost all her family when I transitioned, let me tell the young folks of today something you may need to hear: Bide your time until you're an adult and then leave those who don't respect, support, accept, and love you for who you truly are. Leave the prison that is an unloving or unaccepting or disrespectful family. Learn to love yourself for who you truly are. Holding on to people who don't accept you just delays you finding the people who will accept you and truly love you. It will hurt to lose those you have to leave but you will thank yourself for making that hard choice for the rest of your life. Be you unapologetically and unrestrained, because your authentic self is precious.

Let's say for shits and giggles it is a phase, I want my child to enjoy that phase, Give my child the time to see "Hey I wanna be a boy" Or "Hey I wanna be a girl" or even "hey I'm gender fluid" I'm not going to keep my child bound by what I think or what others think. My child's thoughts are the ones that matter. Because that's my child body/life not mine. I already know what I wanted with my body/life. I had the time to figure that out. it's okay if it was a phase. it's not JUST a phase. these "phases" are important, they form our personality, our worldview, they form the person we are now. it's okay if your sexuality was a phase. it's okay if your gender was a phase. because it's not "just" a phase.
@sheersternfeld19146 ай бұрын
This is a really important problem caused by these kinds of people. Say there's this person who comes out as bi. A lot of people start telling them that it's just a phase, that they're probably just gay but just don't realize it yet, and all that stuff. Say later this person realizes that actually, they're gay. They would be discouraged from coming out because they don't want to prove these assholes right. Because these people are so wrong and stupid and bigoted, and if you ever change your mind, they would just consider it as proving their point. A lot of people are scared of coming out before they really figure their gender/sexuality out, because they don't want to one day change their mind. This is sad, because it makes figuring themselves out so much more difficult because they have to do it alone. I had more things to say, but I think I'm gonna go cry now.

No matter what your opinion is on gender, you should never make your child feel unsafe in their own home. I know my dad doesn't really agree with LGBTQ+ and tries to convince me I identify as a girl. His logic was that I was a girl who was a tomboy sometimes. He's toned back. But he never made me feel like I had to hide. He never made me feel like I was a monster. He made me question myself, yes, but I know now he supported me as a person. I hope he can understand me one day, but I won't force him. At least he loves me. For that, I will forever be grateful.

I have suffered with a homophobic, transphobic, toxic family my whole life. They would gossip and talk about other trans/LGBTQ+ people around me. Yet I am transmasc and part of the LGBT too. They truly don't understand the pain and suffering they have made me go through my whole life. But I finally found some supportive people in my life. All thanks to them.

I am not one a trans person or a homosexual but it is still annoying AF if you are not homophobic or transphobic with homophobic or transphobic parents And they are also super religious and I am an atheist Honestly I recommend hiding it wait until 18 and then never contact your parents again that's what I did and it was probably the best way to handle it Also my mom called me a rebellious witchcraft user or demonic Everytime I misheard her which is stupid

Im a pansexual and my mental state is absolutely terrible. At some points I think abt asking my parents for help but then they say some conservative sh/t like “all these kids now a days need a diagnosis” or just bad mouthing everybody and it hasn’t made me feel better. My dad also constantly makes remarks abt my body and how I’m going to get fat(pretty sure it’s given me an ed bc I haven’t been eating really and if I do I feel so guilty). Or when we pass somebody on the street with cool green hair or a therian mask my dad will say smth like “they’re starting to take over” as in the people in the lgbtq+ and all people who like to show there style. So I get it buddy don’t give up and to everybody else be who you want to be, as soon as you’re 18 and can leave pls get out of those toxic situations, and after you do let you’re parents know in a kind and respectful manner (like the adults were gonna be) that they’re way of treating you was not ok. And if you’re already 18 or older look out for the little guys, we’d like a compliment from time to time if you pass us on the street (don’t be creepy though😭). Anyway I was just trauma dumping. Have a great rest of your life, don’t forget at least 5/10 people you pass are gonna love your outfit, hair,… love y’all byeeeeee

My dad told me that if I told his mom that I'm trans, she'd have a heart attack. In early October (about 8 months after I came out to everyone else and started hrt) I came out to her. After a brief conversation, she got out her quilting supplies and we designed a trans quilt together (it's gonna have blue, pink, and white flowers all around the edges)! And that following christmas, she gave a necklace to each of her granddaughters-including me 🥹 My point is-people may surprise you. Even if she's a 75-year-old cishet white Catholic midwesterner, she may still accept you faster than your own parents ❤

Let me just get this out of here because people need to hear it. Phases in children are learning to crawl, learning to walk and talk, elementary school, high school, college and eventually adult life. What you believe is a "phase" that they'll outgrow is nothing more than your child starting to learn to understand itself and the world around. If you think they'll outgrow things and you can't accept them while they're going through the exploration of their person, you're nothing better than anyone before you. Imagine for a bit, who you could have been if your parents supported you throughout your "phases" instead of telling you off. Would you have been a happier and more accepting adult or would you still have pushed yourself into a cage and locked yourself up deep inside? Would your inner child be crying out like it does now? If I had more supportive parents, I would not be the mess I am today. Yes, there's something wrong in the village. It's adults who are scared of their own past and they're trying to protect you from the harm they would've gone through when they did what you are doing now, without understanding that that is in fact causing the same harm. Adults, it's time we let go of our fears and we let our children explore what they wish to explore, in a safe way. It's time for us to be the biggest cheerleaders in our childrens' lives, not just their coaches. Let your own inner child free and accept that not everyone is exactly like you. ❤❤

"It's just a phase." And what if it is? The whole point of life is to figure yourself out and live your truth. Even if you're wrong, who cares? You'll never know if it's 'just a phase' or not until you take that chance to find out. As an adult, I'm still figuring myself out. He was also one of those “not being Christian/being gay is a sin” Christians. So when I did tell him, needless to say he kept telling me I wasn’t and even insulted my interests and tried to convert us to Christianity despite me being a pure atheist as well as deny that he had a gay daughter. After a bit my mom got tired of him and I’m forced to visit him on the weekends, it’s not fun but I don’t try to argue as much even if his Christian views aren’t what I think are in the Bible. I just don’t wanna have to argue every time I see my father, just because I like girls or don’t feel like there is a God. Though I’m lucky my mother didn’t care after her second gay child. @@Cobinzayou do realize the bible is...a book....written by humans? and therefore, cannot be what 'god' deems true for sure? humans have a reputation for lying for power, misunderstanding, deception, and much much more. due to that, humans cannot be correct, and these quotes in the bible cannot be what god deems true necessarily. i don't even have a problem christianity itself, but forcing people into religion is disgusting. it's hard to believe in a religion that people force upon you. even then, if homosexuality was a sin, and you didn't turn to god because of the reasons i previously stated, if god is the 'big good', he can't be mad at you for misunderstanding. it is human nature. and why would god be mad at you for being homosexual anyways, at least in this day and age? we have enough people in the population that having children isn't a necessity. so why not let people love who they, whether you like it or not, can't control to love. anyways if you read all this ty for at least trying to understand my point. i'm not trying to change your religion or anything but just saying, going against loving thy neighbor to say someone is wrong for loving who they love is just a liiiitttttllleeeeee goofy imo

I am not transgender but I heavily support those who are. My younger sibling Alex, is though, my mother actually disowned her. I took her under my wing so did my fiancé when she was 18. I taught her how to do makeup and got her the clothes she wanted. Alex is a female and pls don’t come at me in comments. Love you so much Alex 😊

My parents told me when I told them that I’m a therian my dad said “it’s a phase you’ll grow out of” and my mom said “therians aren’t real!” That just broke my heart..

Dear Trans brothers and sisters, I love you all very very much. No matter where you are in your transition, just know, you are apart of this large community of beautiful and handsome people, okay? God doesn’t love them for who they want to be he loves them for who they really are. You choose to be trans. I know it’s shocking but it’s true! Be who you are not who you want to be.

It's upsetting that I can relate to this, my father being a drunk hates anything LGBT, my grandmother whom I love since she practically helped raise me wouldn't understand why I feel like I do, I feel so tired from hiding, it's hard.

hey i know how hard hiding yourself can be and how much it hurts, but keep going! you can do this
