Hey Jack. I absolutely love this series. I wanted to give u some small tips to maybe make it a bit easier. The Janitor, or what u call "Mr. Tickles" is blind, and therefor can't see u. But his hearing and smelling is really good. If you run he always hears you. The creaking of the floorboards also betrays you, best to just make a break for it or find a way around. If u sit in a pile of dirt and be still he can't find you either, though if you ran that way and hide there he might still be able to get u. But as long as he doesn't know you are there ur save there too. The little game of running and hiding and sound is used a lot, also later in the game. So keep track of that. Also grabby hands are easier to avoid by jumping. (Remember for when u get closer to the end) Hope this helps!

I think this game is a metaphor for the childhood fear of growing up. Look at the good guys, you have Six, your protagonist, and the little coneheads, and they all very closely resemble children. Not just in their appearance, but their behavior. They're adorable, innocent, kind, pure, but also terrified. The monsters are, of course, the opposite of that, and they're all clearly adults. If taken at face value, the children are terrified of the adults because they're trying to kill them, but they fear something else. Look at the world they live in, its dark, dull, gross, and depressing, the monsters don't seem particularly happy. Metaphorically, that's why the children are terrified, they're scared of losing their childhood innocence and entering the big, scary adult world. Hell, the game's tagline is "Bringing your childhood fears to life" or something like that. That's just my two cents on the issue, what do you guys think?

The level design is pretty clever. Before you're ever in any danger, the game forces you to throw a cymbal monkey to teach you that it makes noise and can be used (to call the elevator), teaches you that wooden floors will creak when you step on them (on the elevator itself), and forces you to watch on cloth that's on wooden floor to teach you that cloth will muffle your footsteps (just before you arrive at the janitor). Then, it forces you to step onto wood while in earshot, but places him far enough away to give you a warning as to how his danger mechanic works: He can't see you, but if he hears you he'll chase you to the last spot he heard you from. Without using any words, the game teaches you about how the danger works, how to avoid it, how to combat it. And by returning to the elevator, it allows them to hide a hidey-hole there and tell you about its existence before you need it, so you know you can return to it later. Slick.
