I feel like FPGA vs Emulation accuracy is MASSIVELY overstated. FPGA accuracy is excellent, but for most of the consoles targeted by current FPGA handhelds, there are already emulators with near if not perfect accuracy. I have asked multiple people, and looked online, but I have yet to see a point where the newest, most accurate emulators fall behind something like a Analogue Pocket.
@jimktrains0Ай бұрын
In theory an fpga could be more power efficient than an emulator or a generic CPU.
@MaruluVRАй бұрын
A emulator can never be perfectly accurate no matter how good the PC or emulator. This is for a simple reason, old consoles have multiple chips doing things in parallel, while emulators work in sequence not in parallel. Throw enough cores and speed at it and it will seem like the original but there will always be differences in timing to the original machines. The real question is is this difference worth it, and for most people thats most likely a no.
@RicklesАй бұрын
@@jimktrains0Analogue Pocket doesn't get outstanding Battery life though. It's in line with all the cheap emulation stuff. I'm going to try something with Onion OS. My three things are from factor, battery, and UI. My steam deck is great but I'm gonna try a Miyoo Mini Plus for something more packable. I wish there were more devices in wide format like a GBA.

FPGA is for people who are really picky. Their accuracy is NOT overstated, it's just unnecessary for most people.

FPGA is for speed runners and people who spend big on old CRT's for the most authentic experience. I think the versatility of Android and Linux handhelds at their price point makes them a far better option for 99.87% of people, especially when you add in game streaming via Moonlight.
@TheJoshuaJamesАй бұрын
