Spanish yu-gi-oh fan here In my country the card, if translated literally to english, would be called "dark magician's DAUGHTER" I'm gonna guess that's a mess up, but boy, IN HERE?! We got so many funny names, althought idk if all of them are actually ours, but I'm gonna guess yes, dubs back then were... bad, usually (i mean we can't even watch dragon ball in a good way, idiots call saiyans "space warriors" and I'm not kidding, nowadays the dubs herr are one of the bests worldwide, but we had to learn from A LOT of mistakes)

Same thing for the French dub, it's still crazy to me how anime got this popular despite this. (Even nowadays, some french translation changes some names of powers or titles sometimes) If I have to guess, it's the "girl" part that probably causes the translation to do that, you can use it when talking about your childrens too. For the French version we don't have this problem because there's no "girl" in the name, we use "Magicienne" which basically means female magician.
