That's the thing about the darkness there is no Darkness without the light and there is no light without the darkness. No matter what you can always come back into the light. example look at Sam Winchester when he said yes to Lucifer he came back because of remembering who he was when he was punching and nearly killing Dean Winchester. That same example can apply to Anakin when he was watching Luke being struck by Lord Sidious it triggered something inside of him he started to remember who he was the memories he had as a Jedi from Attack of the Clones Clone Wars the love he had for Padme all of it brought him back. However we have to acknowledge the fact that none of this would have happened if the Jedi Council just gave him the title of Jedi Master like they should have done because he accomplished more than any Jedi would have ever done the Clone Wars killing Count Dooku and hesitate as well. Also one thing we learn from the book of Boba Fett if Anna came with given to choice to join the Jedi Council to leave or stay things could have turned differently. Or even if Anakin was more open with Kenobi and explain to him about that nightmare he had maybe Kenobi could have helped him after all Anakin was already damaged about what happened to his mother and that is what caused dark Vader to manifest as a split personality the darkness inside of him took over. We all know the Anakin that we all know would have never said a yes to Lord say yes he said yes because of that nightmare because of the way he was being treated by the Jedi Council and the person who said yes was not even Anakin it was Darth Vader. Just like what Anakin said at the end of Obi-Wan Kenobi you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker I did (vader). If you compare dark Vader's rise to power from Revenge of the Sith up to Return of the Jedi and combined it with Kenobi you'll see what I'm talking about compare it with split personalities it's not that far-fetched

I mean...kinda? He lost his mother because of beurocratic incompetence on the part of the republic, combined with his own lack of focus. He lost his wife because he once more lost focus on what mattered, letting his goal to become powerful overtake his goal to save padme, despite the fact that both were linked at one point.

I think Anakins fall into darkness would have worked better not as a selfish motivation but as a genuine belief in oppression in the name of order and peace. Imagine an Anakin who had spent his whole youth as a Jedi seeing untold suffering as a result of freedom under the republic and endless conflicts between systems over petty issues. A good man who's honesty and faith in good were slowly erroded away by reality over the years. And the only true way to fix this endless cycle of chaos and war was to bring the entire galaxy to heel, use, as Tarkin put it "fear to keep the systems in line"

I definitely find your idea appealing. It would fit with his quote about peace and freedom. It would also make him an even more relatable villain. Vader's arc is low key my favorite villain story, and any idea that builds upon that arc is pretty good in my opinion. Thanks for sharing.

I don't like it much, but i think Clone Wars tv show expanded on this idea. They made a point of showing how republic ways allows for war and suffering to continue.

I think it would have been better if Palpatine instigated a situation where say a once loyal group of systems were going to become neutral and stop sending resources to the republic due to the fact the Republic was corrupt and they were beeing fleeced into poverty. The republic could not afford to lose these systems of their military strategic position so the republic navy/army is order to occupy them. The Jedi immediately then actually try to kill Palpatine and attack the republic army while Vader and maybe a handful of jedi side with the republic. The duel on Mustafar is a mining planet where Anakin is sent by Sidious to wipe out the ruling politicians and install his own cronies. The war ends as Palpatine orders a bunch of the seperatist leaders to kill the others and gives them powerful positions in the empire as secret weapons developers, they shut down the droid army themselves while staging a fake battle for the republic internet where the republic desively wins but Anakin skywalker dies a heroic death. Darth Vader in his new suit arrives on scene and kills all the remaining seperatist leaders replacing them with his own fallen jedi and imperal army sycophants who are all humans. Part of the movie should showcase Anakin/vader and Palpatines distain for non-humans because they use the force in alien means and are generally regarded an incompetent. Anakin especially comes into conflict with Master Yoda saying that he lacks humanity when he is willing to allow people to be enslaved while pursuing a more pressing military engagement with the Wookies. Anakin is often pissed off at Yoda as he often has him and Obiwan along with other human jedi doing basic grunt work and very often leaving human worlds to be conquered. A very large issue Anakin has with the Jedi order and turns to the Sith/Empire as Palpatine has a bias for working with and saving human lives while the Jedi ethos and philsophy is more racially secular in that it teaches them to ignore their origins and discount wherever they came from as the Jedi order being universal is its own structure, the character of Anakin being passionate, loving and connected strongly conflicts with this even stating that Master Yoda's teachings sound more droid like than the enemy. The main issue here that is a major theme of the films is that Anakins fall to the darkside is directly related to the Jedi failing to innovate or realize their flaws in dogma, maybe even ultimately that Yoda was a good teacher of the force for some but a poor leader/politician in terms of Galactic affairs. Yoda should never fight ever in these films or at least use a lightsabre, considering these movies are 20 years before the main trilogy where Yoda is 900 fucking years old and dies it is stupid that hes doing backflips and spinning around. He should be a frail old man and Palpatine should often ponint out to Vader how the Jedi are ruled by a cripple priest completely detached from the lower classes and their struggles and not a true warrior. It would be fine for Yoda to challenge Palpatine in force powers but thats it. Most of Yodas use of the force in battle is centered around redirecting attacks back to Palpatine while also attempting to incapcitate or tie up his opponent, his power both in words and powers are attemping to disable his opponents offense by using force judo and trying to make Palpatine angry at himself. Palpatine only "wins" because he collapses the whole Senate building on top of them while escaping into a secret tunnel to a bunker for VIPS. The movie should end with Vader searching the Jedi archives stumbling on a hologram of Anakin Skywalker telling Obi-Wan that theres good in everyone when speaking of Dooku. Then transitioning into the sunset on the Jedi Temple which then goes out Tatooine and the twin sunrises.
