The hypocrisy in the Karen's statement. She said I don't want to come on Friday cause it's her personal day off. She then suggest Siiri comes on HER personal day off to work on her hair. Like bruh

It's so hilarious that Karens think "Are you really prepared to lose my business" or similar threats are such a trump card. Sweetie, for the most part you are UTTERLY replaceable, especially after that entitled 'tude. Don't let the door hit ya where the Maker split ya!

This really hits home for me, people know that I make my own schedule, so they assume that I can make myself available as they have need. I have been told that I am lazy for not being willing to work additional days or hours (I already work about 16 hrs the days I do work, so a 5.5 day work week is pretty tough to also be asked to work more than that is hard. Good for you setting this boundary

I had a client once pick up my personal schedule and just flip through it like it was his own. I literally did the "AHEM" sound, and he stopped, looked at me, looked at the book again... and said "you're totally free Saturday!" To which my response was "I don't work Saturdays." Seriously, never go at a persons personal schedule. They will fit you in WHEN and IF they can. You're not scheduling yourself, THEY are ALLOWING you into a space in THEIR schedule. BE NICE ABOUT IT.

Working with the public is hard. Many of the situations Siri re-enacts have happened to me or my co-workers over the years. I recently had to "fire" a client over her disrespecting my time. Interesting that she works for a well know cosmetic dermatoligist in our area and knows the importance of scheduling, and showing up for appointments, etc. , but being self centered it was all about her.

Honestly, how do people misjudge the strength of their negotiating position so badly? You, Karen, have just determined that Siiri can't take you because she is booked up. That means - drumroll, please! - she doesn't need your business! So compromise on a time that works for both of you. Trying to hold leaving for a new stylist over her head just ain't gonna work in those circumstances. Ironically, the only time it might work is with a stylist who has lots of openings, because that could mean she needs every customer she can get.

I know this sort of thing happens bc people like this get their services somewhere, but it just blows my mind. I love my stylist and although I only go twice per year, we are together for hours. I can't imagine spending that much time with someone I didn't have a good relationship with. I also know that stylists have great ethics and want to keep their license, but I can't imagine putting the level of trust I put in my stylist after treating them horribly. Good job setting boundaries and sticking to them. Something tells me she will have a harder time finding new permanent stylist than you will have filling that spot.

Sadly, theres always a client who expects their stylist to come in on their day off, or 3 hours before the shop opens, or expect you to stay 6 hours past closing time, because they think they are just that special and meaningful to the world. À big, resounding HELL NO to them, as you know bloody well those people wouldnt give so much as 3 minutes to accommodate you at their place of work

I work at the local VA hospital helping docs and nurses with their travel arrangements, and they are the most entitled self centered group of people i have ever had the joy of having to deal with. And they act just this way too, like i am supposed to drop all of the other federal travelers stuff because one doc with a god complex. And i have to set boundaries all the time; “I will be taking my lunch at 12:30 today, so i will reach out to you when i am back and ready…no it is none of your business how long my lunch lasts, i will reach out to you when i am ready doc…”. You would think docs and nurses would have basic life skills…you know, like being able to make flight reservation. But sadly no 😅
