After the partition of British India in 1947 many Hindu and Muslim families left their respective homes to settle down in the newly created states. Political agitation in the preceding decades had helped to produce the feeling that both nations - Hindus and Muslims - needed their own homeland to thrive. Until today this so called “two-nation theory” is perpetuated in many South Asian countries. This documentary portrays the life of Pakistani Hindus who left their homeland due to alienation, unemployment, and religious prosecution. In search for a better life they reach India where they realize they are not treated as lost, fellow Hindu brothers, but as unwelcome Pakistani intruders.
The visual material derives from fieldwork in Rajasthan, India as part of a long-term research project on Hindus in Pakistan.

I am an Indian. I love India and I am not a fan of Pakistan. But I have to say that some elements in Indian politics and some ultra-Hindutva organizations have their priorities misplaced and focus on the wrong issues. Cows in Modi's India are given more importance than fellow humans' suffering. They seemed to be OBSESSED with cows' well-being and this obsessive-focus is unhealthy and disastrous to our society. This should be a wakeup call. Prioritize people like these. I mean, we have limited resources, time and money. It matters where the priorities are.

I am really sorry for these nice and innocent people. They are completely lost. It's a very good effort and I would request you to carry on doing more and better. I beg to differ here with one of your point my friend, i.e India is their ancestor land, it's not. They and their ancestors are indeed, from Sindh, Pakistan. Although, I wish wherever they live now, they get peace and prosperity. I travelled myself throughout Sindh and met many Hindu brothers and sisters and I found them happy living there, I know there are exceptions, and we are working hard to improve their situation. For us, other Pakistanis they and other minorities are precious, very very precious, as they didn't left their homeland at the time of partition, even though we put a blunt and discouraging slogan "Pakistan ka matlab kia - La ilaha il lallah" i.e. Pakistan is a pure Muslim state. As by the looks of it, they put their faith on local communities around them, on people maybe not so much on so called leaders. However at this moment, trust me brother the only problem in Ind-o-pak subcontinent is poverty. If you are poor, you are in trouble, no matter where you live, what religion you follow, or how you looks. I hope one day we will come over it! Peace!

Bechara- I feel so sorry for the one who wanted to become a doctor and ended up becoming a kabaaria. Poor thing. It's so sad that the priveleged ppl can travel to India from Pakistan and vice versa without any issues and these poor people who are seeking refuge in a country where they feel they will get more freedom, they are labelled as terrorists. There are minority issues in both the countries which is quite heartbreaking- they should feel the freedom in the land they live in and they should also be allowed to go to the lands of their faith and meet their relatives with ease... but there has been a high rise in terrorist activities due to which the govt ends up taking such strict measures. I love their seraiki dialects and accents which is also my mother tongue. This shows how similar we are culturally- we should learn to live in harmony. I must tell you to look at the facts as they stand rather than generalizing both the countries. Pakistan was a nation built on the merit of religion, Islam. It had about 20% Hindu Minorities which is brought down to below 2% till 2010. That tells a story of horror in itself. India is not a religion based state. The fact that the Muslim population in India had grown from 16% to 18% is enough to know the reality. To say that the plight is been same on both the sides, is actually putting a blind eye to the enormous torment of Hindu population in last 6 decades. If you could find such muslims who have fled from India, for the similar problem, then it would have been better to generalize. But you will not find any case as such and I can say this confidently. Religious Extremism is never the same thing in both the side of borders or else 18% muslims couldn't have remained to live under fear. It is really sadening to see people of sindh, of whom Hindu word has been derived. This is horrendous ethnic cleansing at its worst.

Sindh minorities are unfortunate. Those who migrated to India, do not have a state of their own. Punjabi and Bengalis, at least, got a state of their own. Those who come from Bangladesh, are not treated that way in West Bengal. But the real tragedy is Assam. Even in the Nov, 2018 five Bengalis were shot dead by ULFA. Names of two millions have been struck down. Assuming a family consists of five members, one crore people are affected in Assam. This is about one third of the population of Assam. These people have no place in Pakistan or Bangladesh also. The percentage population of minorities in Pakistan (including Ahmediyas) is less than 3. Interestingly, Pakistan has been withholding 2017 census data. In Bangladesh also, minority population came down from 29% to 9.5%. This is not the case in India. Number of Muslims have been rising with more vigour than that of Hindus. This simple figures explain the difference between Pakistan, Bangladesh and India.
