Woooow! I spend few hours by solving this issue without any solution. Classic Widget deleted all my Widgets - but also solved JSON error. Which is great! I will create Widgets from scratch, but I do not care after so many hours. With JSON error I coudn't update obsolete info in Widget area. Thx a lot!

I'm sorry to hear that. As I noted in the description, it's a temporary fix until you figure out the root issue. It allowed me and many others here to work with wodgets again. I hope you find your fix soon🙏

@@shacharchess I agree that it's better than not having widgets at all... a shame that to this day there is no solution anywhere... Nonetheless I discovered that in the theme customization menu (I use Blocksy), I can actually modify the sidebar widgets submenu using modern block editor parts and Publish without error. It's clunky but it works...

Go with what works for you, and move from there to the WordPress support forum or other venues. If you use Cloudflare via Bluehost I know it might cause false positives and block you from updating widgets - check that issue I know first hand (moving to Cloudways has solved the issue completely). Good luck
