I can appreciate differing opinions to the general consensus but, these are bad takes IMHO. Did any of the run in people lay a hand on Roman? NO. Y? Cause Cody needed to win fair and square in the ring. That is the difference between him and Roman, like come on guys its basic heel v baby and it was played to PERFECTION. Roman gave his best heel work in his entire career, and was his best match by far. He can only do that if he has a great face to work with. IF NOT NOW, then when? Never have Roman drop the title? How can you not admit how perfect of a build and setup this was? Not everything has to be unpredictable. The ONLY reason people thought Roman might win is ONLY CAUSE WWE HAS DISAPPOINTED BEFORE IN SPITE OF THE BETTER STORY < That ain't a good reason.

You have to remember, friend, that there is a certain type of wrestling "fan" like these guys, who were young in the Attitude Era and are so attached to that zeitgeist that nothing will ever, ever compare because their perspective is so rose-tinted as to be welded on their face. They complain about cheap pops but were fans of rinse-and-repeat acts like Godfather, Too Cool, Val Venis and New Age Outlaws who (and it worked at the time, this is nothing against them but the reality is they) spammed the same catchphrases and acts out ad nauseam for years. Their entire wrestling-fan persona is BUILT on everything not being as good as when they, personally, were a kid and wrestling was super cool. Carry on being a fan, most people aren't like these guys as indicated by the comments here.

Even for contrarian edgelords, this is embarrasing. You can't be all "We're the ones with radical takes" and then turn around and justify it with "everything was better in the Attitude Era": the most tediously spammed populist argument in wrestling. When you're coming with arguments like "Everything x Should have been a bigger deal and x surprises should have happened and x was made to look bad" in the face of overtly successful booking then you aren't contrarians, you're just the most basic level 2002-2012 IWC bores 101. For whatever reason this ended up on my feed and seemingly has for others too. So it was a chance to make an impression. Colossal fail. Contrarian takes including negative ones are important, which is why it deserves better than this rubbish.
